Waters said that though the sys- tem failed because of the corro- sion, the system was successful in a sense because of the valuable information it has provided to the area of solar technology. According to Dr. John Waters, superintendent, the Department of Energy agreed to pay 90 percent of the redesign costs which would be approximately S100,000. We believe that the redesign will give us a relatively mainte- nance tree stystem for the next 10 to 15 years, Waters said. According to Tom Martin, sta- tionary plant manager, the system has had more than one problem, but galvanic corrosion in the 50,000 gallon water tank, ladder and pumps forced the shut down of the system.
