Most recently, Ger- trude Faervaag from Norway lived with them for the first three months of this school year. Joy's family got in touch with Gertrude through Youth for Understanding CYFUJ. Before Gertrude's arrival in America, she and Joy got to know each other through the mail. Joy likes being in a host family because l've never had a sister before . When Joy and Gertrude went out together they were often mistaken for twins. People don't know much about other countries. They do the same types of things. They're just the same. They just live somewhere else, Joy said. Along with Gertrude, the Maxwells have had stu- dents from Holland, Finland and Denmark. O? t , -sgJ ft3
