Board sefs new policies on eduoafion about sex The teaching of sex education in schools has been a contro- ersial subject nation wide. Debate continues on how, and if, he subject should be handled. The increasing number of pregnant teens has influenced ome people to believe there is a need for sex education in high school. Other people believe that the duty of informing the hildren belongs to the parents, but a survey taken in the human relations classes last year revealed that only one or two tudents in each class had discussed sex with their parents. After studying a survey of students, parents and teachers hroughout the district, the Board of Education has set new policies this year concerning sex education. According to the policy, the Board believes that the primary responsibility for education about human sexuality rests with home and religious institutions. The policy also states that while the schools should include a of sexual education, the preparation of the program involve the home, school and religious community.CL.
