Driving gives freedom fo many sophomores Getting a driving permit or license meant freedom for many sophomores this year, according to Raul San- doval, drivers' education teacher. Sandoval said that many sophomores look forward to getting their permit or license because being able to drive allows the student to depend on themselves instead of their parents. I think that Qtreedomj encompasses it all. They'll be able to do things on their own. They have begun to cut the ropes between themselves and their parents a little bit, Sandoval said. Though the main reason many sophomores take driver's ed. is to learn how to drive, others take the class to prepare for their driving permit or license test or to get a discount on their car insurance. The class entails book work and now they have sim- ulators. Simulators do not teach you how to drive per se. They do teach you good techniques, Sandoval said.
