The rule limited the sale of any foods which have minimum nutritional value until after the last lunch period. This restricts the sale of soda pop, water ices, chewing gum, and some candies until after the last lunch period, Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Carol Tucker Foreman said. The new law was passed in the hope that students would be led to eating more nutritional foods such as fruits, juices and nuts. Reactions around the school to the ban were varied. Devon Kohen, junior, said, I think it would be good if they replaced it with something good like yogurt. I think it should be up to the students whether or not they want to eat junk food. They should have a variety of more nutritious foods, commented junior Lori Lin- coln. They should not sell junk food at the snack bar but leave the pop machine open, said Cindy Mortensen, freshman. Craig Akers junior, said, lt's ridiculous, because that's the way a lot ot clubs make their money, by sell- ing candy. lt people don't want to buy the junk food, they don't have to. Judy Hill, teacher, said, The government has good intentions and I understand what they're trying to do But itwon'twork. C2 JUNIORS 157
