Chess olub oompefes locally, while new club builds airplane While others were eating their lunch, the Chess club was meeting with sponsor Mike Wehrli, practicing for their chess tournaments. The club played a tourna- ment once a week against other schools including McClintock, Marcos de Niza, and Tempe High. This year the Chess club went to the state finals with their varsity team, which consists of five members. The rest are members of the J.V. team.
