Varsity tennis team has been in the 4A CIF finals for the last eight years. They won the championship the first six years and the last 0 two, they lost in the finals to Mira Lest. Goal A s of the team, according to varsity player john Washer, was to win CIF. Winners of CIF competition even have a chance to play 2 nationally. Led by Lance Martin and Dave Anderson the CdM Varsity Track team had a very successful season. Martin, a senior, swept the 100 and 220 and anchored the 440 relay team, while Anderson, a junior, led the Sea Kings in the 880 and mile. CLose behind Martin in the 100 and 220 were Pat McGrath and Scott Seal, following Anderson in the 880 and the mile were Peter Yaffe and Chuck Hobbs. In the 440 CdM was led by Vince McGuinness, Dave Patterson and Paul Sil- verman. The Winning Sea King relay teams consisted of Seal, McGuinness, McGrath and Martin in the 440 and jon Forte, Martin, Patterson, and McC-uinness in the mile. Peter Messenger challenged the high hurdles while Forte and McGrath led the low hurdles. ln the field events, jeff Brown and Dave Lawson were stand outs in the shot put. Lawson also stood out in the discus. Carl Schnug was the leader in the pole vault and jon Forte in the high jump. The Sea King IV team was led by Ross Flemer and jim Rurup, with help from Regan Sarwas, Chris Foster, Kevin Robertson, and Eric Norris. The FroshfSoph team was led by Bob Tomichek, Todd Bearbower, Mark Vitale, Mike McCal- lum, M ark Borg, lan Van Hoven, jeff Fryer, and Carl Strub.
