The 1983 Corona del Mar Boys' Swim team got off to a great start with an early season victory over Estancia. Under the able direction of the new Head Coach Ted Turner, the team was expected to place third in league behind El Toro and Newport Harbor. This year's team was led by Pat Loofbourrow and Eric Paulsen in the free- 1 style, Ricky Scott in the breast-stroke, and Eric Ford, who could be counted on to perform well in any event. The j.V. and Frosh-Soph teams ended the season with an outlook for a promising future. Varsity tennis team has been in the 4A CIF finals for the last eight years. They won the championship the first six years and the last 0 two, they lost in the finals to Mira Lest. Goal A s of the team, according to varsity player john Washer, was to win CIF. Winners of CIF competition even have a chance to play 2 nationally.
