J .V. Tennis swings into action The j.v. did better than I had expected, said Coach Kim Duesler about the girls' junior varsity tennis season. Indeed, the j.v. team had a good season, having lost only to University C13-5l, and finishing with a league record of 12-1. In their last game of the season against University the Sea Queens won, giving them a tie for first in league. This year the girls' frosh-soph tennis team played only two matches, winning against both Sunny Hills and Newport Harbor. The reason for only two matches, according to Deusler, was that not many schools had frosh-soph teams. Next year I hope frosh- soph will have more opportunities to play, said Duesler, because of the teams' exceptional talent. 210 girls' tennis

Led by the exceptional ability of jessica Algazi and the strong doubles team of Heidi Katzman and Lisa Ensign, the girls' varsity tennis team finished with a league record of 11-2. The team did as well as I expected from the start of the season, commented Head Coach Scott Penner. The only two Sea Queen defeats came from a tough Estancia team. Although CdM lost to Estancia twice, the powerful doubles team of KatzmanfEnsign did beat the 931 ranked Estancia doubles team. 4 1.
