Michelle McKeever throws the ball back into the field. 2. Beth Eisenberg struggles for the ball. After losing their first four games, IV soccer beat their next seven opponents for a 7-4 record. Their toughest games, which they lost, were with El Toro and Newport Harbor. Brynn Rauth won the coach's award and a sportsmanship and teamwork award. Colleen Mills won most valuable defense. Their toughest competitors of the year were University, Estancia, and El Toro. They lost to Uni and Estancia but beat El Toro 3-1, which was a great upset in league standings. Stephanie Noonan won the Richard Lightburn Memorial award which is an award for all-around good attitude. Anne Hilbert and Kirsten Jacobson won most valuable defense. Patti Brown and Jenifer Noonan won the most valuable offense award. In CIF, lenifer Noonan and Anne Hilbert made all league teams, while Patti Brown and Stephanie Noonan made second team. 1. Anne Hilbert and Lynn Bercaw play aggressivly on the soccer field. 2. Liz Foley kicks a corner kick. 3. Merit Schweickert passes the ball to a teammate.

Softball on deck in '83 The varsity girls' softball team looks to be an improvement over years past. Led by new coach Mary Becket and returning starters Ilene Hess, Angie Dodds, Karen Kolstad, Lisa Romney, and Kim Valentine, the team beat rival Newport Harbor 11-4. Newcomers Amy Conoway, Lynn Etkins, Kristi Coale, Heather Estey, and Nell Killefer added much to the Sea Queen line-up. The girls' IV squad, under new coach Ted Williams, worked hard to add continuity to their game.
