This year's team was led by Heather Estey, a point guard, who averaged 18 points per game during the regular season. Lisa Romney was another offensive star who scored consistently and often. loan Loos, Francine Wynn, and Angie Dodds, the other starters, also contributed greatly to the team. acing ahead I'd never been so nervous for a race. Lining up, seeing the great competition, it was nerve-wracking. The gun went oft? we started The first mile was a slam-bang fight for position. Then we hit the hills, known as the Rollercoaster. The trail went up forever and the runners became strung out on the course. It was like a bad dream. The finish was the most welcome sight l'd ever seen. -Anne Hilbert The biggest change for this year's varsity and j.v. girls' Cross-country teams was adjusting to racing against two teams, in tri-meets, since the Sea View League expanded to eight schools. More dual-meets had to be run late in the week, and the athletes were tired, performance declined in weekend invitational meets. Top varsity runner, Stacey Skeie, suffered a stress fracture early in the season, but Anne Hilbert, jenny Yates, and Kelly Graham contended with tough opponents to place 12th, 18th, and 30th consecutively at Lea ue Fina s. The j.v. team, led by jill Freedman and Micheqle Moder, enjoyed relative success. judging by how the season went, with many new freshmen, stated Karen Gilbert, the j.v. team should be a competitive force next year. l A 200 glrls' cross-country Gail Freedman Samantha MCGahan Kelly Graham Anne Hilbert Kira Loofbourrow Susie Paulsen Stacey Skeie jenny Yates ludi Wright Coach Diana lones Coach Bill Leach Coach julie Leach
