DEDICATION Kr■'■A. Dedication We, the Seniors of the Class of 1954, do hereby dedicate this year’s CORHIAN to our advisor, Mr. Robert Porter. Mr. Porter was born in Congo, Ohio, on February 25, 1925. He attended Homer-Union High School, and later received a B. S. in Education from Ohio University. He served in the United States Air Force from July, 1943, until March, 1946. He has been teaching social sciences in Corning High High School since 1951. Mr. Porter married the former Audrey Lee McPeak from Ringgold, Ohio. They now reside in Corning. Mr. Porter has been an able advisor, working zealously on all our class activities, and a true friend to every member of the Class of '54. We hope that he will be able to benefit future classes as much as he has us. 2 Faculty GLADYS B. Our cap- tain was Mrs. Nancy Worthington. Among the forty-six passengers were six crewmen: Donald Buty, President; Mona Garey, Vice-President; Er- nestine Matthews, Secretary; Virginia Dean, Treasurer; Tommy Gaitten i and Arlene Tivner, Student Council. Our only class activity was a class party in the home economics room. Near the end of the first part of the voyage we lost at sea our captain and following passengers: Erma Walton, Kelley Hale, and Delores Frazier. We began the second part of our voyage from Port Sophomore with Mr. Robert Porter as our captain. Among his crewmen were: Ernestine Matthews, President; Jack Clifford, Vice-President; Don Hern, Secretary Mattie Murphy, Treasurer. The passengers who served at the Junior- Senior Prom were: V.Dean, M. Essex, A. Raub, M. Garey, E. Matthews, , A. Tivner, C. Woodruff, J. Jenkins, T. Gaitten, F. Pompey, D. Hern, and D. Buty, On this part of our voyage we had two class parties, a wiener roast and a skating party. At the end of this part of our voyage we lost seven passengers: Sylvester Fountain, Janice Gibbs, Ronald Stall- ings, Donna Hazlett, Nora Martin, and Mary Van Horn. We reached Port Junior and began from there on the third part of our voyage. We had with us our captain, Mrs. Gladys B. Forshey, and her crewmen: Mona Detlor, President; Virginia Dean, Vice-President; Marlene Essex, Secretary; and Naomi Ketcham, Treasurer. We presented on board our class play, “Three Fingers in the Door,” a mystery-comedy, in October, 1952. We presented our Junior Prom using the coronation as our theme. The Amby Armbrust Orchestra furnished our music. For our own entertainment we held a skating party. Although we gained one pas- senger, Phillip DeLong, we lost at sea Irene Fekete, Eileen Gossman, Virginia Dean, and Arlene Tivner. Finally we reached Port Senior, the port we were all looking for - ward to reaching. Mr. Robert Porter was our captain again. His crew- men were: Mona Detlor, President; Marlene Essex, Vice-President, Anne Raub, Secretary and Treasurer. We had a Variety Show on December 22. The most important activities that we are planning are our Senior Class Play, the Baccalaureate, our Senior trip and our Commencement. --Naomi Ketcham O CVS 2 0 O CVS G O O CVS OO O CsS 15 Class Will Listen my children, and you shall hear the last recorded words of wisdom of the Senior Class of 1954.
