PRESIDENT VICE PRESIDENT SECRETARY TREASURER Mschael Wsdmser Paul Benyo Martha Suffern Phslsp Welch -me ew af 1954 our freshman year at Cornsng Free Academy we embarked upos the begsnnsng of four of the happsest years of our lsfe We elected Kew etI's Woodruff Pressdent Gerald Burrss Vsce Pressdent and Elsssa Mattoon Secr ry Treasurer The freshman socsal calendar was not as replete wsth actsvsts the upperclassmen s The masn event of the year was an enjoyable evensng s sent as guests of the sophmores at the annual Freshman Sophmore party As sophomores we elected Thomas Keenan Pressdent Scott Chownsng Vsce Pressdent Veneranda Ruocco Secretary and Frank Coger Treasurer We contsnued the tradstson of holdsr-g the Freshman Sophmore get together for the newly arrsved freshmen Wsth the arrsval of our sunsor year we undertook as upperclassmen our fsrst class proyect the Chrsstmas Pageant It was ably dsrected by Msss Helen Farr and the class reaped the frusts of thesr efforts from a well recesved program The Junsor Prom was our next smportant venture Thss requsred the cooperatson of the entsre class sn order to make st the successful event st always ss A coronatson theme was carrsed out ussng decoratsons of large crowns and shselds sksllfully exected sn royal purple and gold The crownsng of the ksng and queen ss the outstandsng feature of the prom and ss eagerly awasted by the entsre student body Phslsp Welch and Martha Suffern were chosen to resgn for the year l953 l954 Our sunsor year offscers were Scott Chownsng Pressdent Frank Coger Vnce Pressdent Carol Nelson Secretary and Phslsp Welch Treasurer Wsth three years of preparatson and expersence we embarked upon our fsnal year at Cornsng Free Academy Our goal was accomplsshed we were sensors at last Our fsrst responssbslsty as sensors was to elect capable leaders Petstsons were csrculated for candsdates At our fsrst class meetsng Mschael Wsdmser was elected Pressdent Paul Benyo Vsce Pressdent Martha Suffern Secretary and Phsllsp Welch Treasurer Our snstsal undertaksng as sensors was the annual magazsne sale Two magazsne representatsves gave us our fsrst lesson sn salesmanshsp Frank Knsght and Sylvsa Royce were general chasrmen of the sale The fsrst prsze of a radso was awarded to Rodney Van Housen who sold a total of S332 45 worth of magazsnes Harry Nusom was second wsth S197 20 Phslsp Wescw thsrd wsth SIS6 30 Cathersne Collsns and Vsctor Allsson fourth wsth SI46 40 and Jane Hadedssh fsfth wsth SI43 80 The month of October heralded the tsme for our sensor get together Csder and doughnuts were enjoyed by all who attended The Chrsstmas Prom was our next socsal functson It was approprsately named Holsday VVhsrl Scott Chownsng was apposnted general cnasrman Immedsately followsng the January examsnatsons we began the rehearsals for our sensor play Stag Lsne Thss hslarsous comedy dsrected by Msss Janet Young was enthussastscally recesved by capacsty audsences both presentatsons The next eventful day for us as sensors was that of our Sensor Trsp We left at the crack of dawn on June I I and drove to Gettysburgh Pa where we were taken on a tour of the hsstorsc battlefseld We then went to Hershey Pa and through the Chocolate Factorses Thss was followed by swsmmsng amusements and a delscsous dsnner sn the evensng We returned home sn the wee hours of the next mornsng exhausted but full of pleasent memorses of our wonderful Sensor Trsp Graduatson day dawned at last Thss was the fsnal chapter of our days at Cornsng Free Academy On that memorable day we especsally felt grateful to those who had constantly gusded and assssted us dursng our stay at the Academy . . .
