if FQREWQIQD if URING the last few years innumerable unforeseen events have occurred which have had direct influence upon the choice of careers of the senior class of 1946, Now, as we, the seniors of 1946, gaze across space, we see NEW HQRIZQNS spread before us. Qur plans for the future have changed again, but as we look at the stars we see now, more than ever, their real meaning to each and every one of us. Ch, but before we proceed, you have not met the boy who is busy looking through that Uthing-a -ma-bobn, the telescope, towards NEW HQRIZONS. We introduce to you now Uohnnyi' who represents the typical senior of our T946 graduating class. That seems far-fetched and strange, doesn't it? lt's really not, for in all serious- ness we want you to get to know and like him. fdohnnyi' who is eagerly looking forward towards the future now has visions which are ever so bright. l-le has plans started now, which a few years ago were only dreams, rather fuzzy, blurry and incomplete. Today he sees many stars, some of which are full of meaning for him and his future. These are his NEW l-lQRl- ZQNS. Some are brightly colored and well-formed, yet others are not quite there. lt's like a clear day as com- pared to a foggy day when you may be sitting on a hill and it seems as though you could lean over and actually touch the big, leafy oak tree or the little white house over there on the hill across the valley, as if you could actually feel the contours of the tree and house. Yet there are other times when it's very misty and foggy, and sitting on that same hill, you can barely see the dot which is the tree or the little white mass which is the house. They seem miles and miles away. lt's a strain to try to really visualize them, yet in all reality they are there and you know it because you've seen them on the clear days. You can, by physical power, bring yourself to touch them both, even on the foggy days, but it takes effort on your part to do it. ln these bright stars Johnny sees himself perhaps as a prominent business man in the community, a doctor, a lawyer, or an engineer. l'le sees himself as a teacher in one of the schools, loved and respected by all who come in contact with him. l'le sees himself as a minister, a nurse or a welfare worker, whose interest is only to help others so that these other people too, may be able to see brighter stars in the NEW l'l0l2lZQNS. He sees himself as a writer, a musician, an artist, or an actor, those whose intents is to show themselves through their inborn loveof life and its beauty. l-le sees himself as an inventor or scientist who wishes to see the world pro- gress, l'le sees himself as a statesman, a diplomat, a leader, those who wish to insure a lasting and secure peace in the world. l-le sees these things, and yet in the fuzzy stars, he sees other things, since he knows that events tend to change one's ways and ideas. l'le knows what he sees may not be the real thing. lt is only that these are his present dreams and hopes as he looks across NEW I-iORlZQNS. pd3Q5F6Lff
