I'm sick of it — sick of conventionalities, sick of apathy, sick of big shots on campus — sick, sick, sick — especially when I think about it seriously. Kind of leaves a nauseating feeling in the pit of my stomach, don't stop reading ... I guess it all happens on every campus, though — The same garbage everywhere, (see page 33) But you see, we all enjoy ourselves — Frenicks, Faulisi's, Tut's, etc., etc., etc. That's all off campus, though, don't stop reading . . . Why can't it be more fun on campus? Your guess is as good as mine. Probably because of the reasons stated above in paragraph one - conventionalities, apathy, (that's a big one) big shots — yeah, that's it. Subtlety, that's how you can overtake all that junk, slowly but surely. don't stop reading . . . What we have done has been great — Weekends, gymkhanas, kegs, basketball games - but why not more participation? Sure, Corning is a community college — First impression? Little, local, and lifeless. But why? don't stop reading . . . The college kiefs make college life, right? We've got a great administration, that is those who dominate and rule — ever really talk to President Frederick, any of the board? Anyone? Sure, there are lots of people on campus but it is great when there is a groovy (how conventional) relationship with a student and teacher or administrator — Am I not correct? I guess this letter started out as a real bitch, but that's not my main intention. I want everyone of you guys to open those peepers and look . . . look at C.C.C. for what it's worth . . . and it's worth a heck of a lot . . . lust cogitate on it a minute, if not a few . . . don't stop reading . . . You people that are done at C.C.C., kick yourself if you didn't try — lots of sore derniers, I bet. don't stop reading ... I guess I'm the guilty one, too. But I realized it a little late, I admit, in my late third, and complete fourth semester here — But what I am trying to do is relay all that I do realize to you in this yearbook, now — Maybe you can benefit by one female's opinion in years to come — whether it be in a four year school or in a job — CAKE a little — participate with other humans - have a good time - live a little with those you live with — really — people are great — good to have around — those who will be here again . . . take it for all it's worth — Corning is . . . and you have every opportunity to make it do it The Editor P.S. Every picture in this yearbook has a meaning . . . Think about them. 32 why can't we reveal our wants, our needs, reach out a trusting hand? why can't we go to one another and say: i care; i understand ? 34 there are but three events which concern mankind: birth, life and death all know nothing of their birth, all submit to die, and many forget to live ... la bruyere if i am sick, it is of living in a society where one is expected always to equate: indifference with sophistication, novelty with beauty, subversity with progress. nows society: so human, ile so mechanical, professing love, grace, hope, yet often practicing hate, deceit disgrace. 41 I 43 love america or leave it CORNING COMMUNITY COLLEGE CORONA 46 M969 EDITOR MARILYN DRABICKI 47 48 Mentation • freshman ‘orientation • freshma rientation • FRESHMAN TRAINING -freshm mmm mmmM: £ V' ■. mmm Sv ' ' • ■ • ■ ■ 4- Wml ■■■■ • -x- W0 S? j m3 V' v£fc ;a:-a t§t % v;;«: «■iv!;'..; y- : «SI ;■ K Wf.''. - '34 -M.? We made the book complete. We covered the whole year rather than just three quarters ot the year. Ron Miano, Carry Miller - our publishing representative - and I worked hard on the CORONA and we ieel that we have done quite well despite the fact that we did not have much help. Through many evenings of hard work and many differences of opinion, we turned out what we feel is the best year- book that Corning has ever seen.' We thank you for caring enough to purchase this collection of our utmost efforts. Marilyn Drabicki — Editor — 119 ADMINISTRATION 120 FACULTY 121 122 AN OPEN LETTER TO EACH GRADUATE HAVE TWO YEARS REALLY GONE BY? IT SEEMS LIKE AN ETERNITY SINCE SEPTEMBER 7967 WHEN VIEWED AGAINST THE BACK-DROP OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EVENTS - SO MUCH OF SUCH SIGNIFICANCE HAS OCCURRED - YET FOR US IN OUR OWN PROVINCIAL TIME-FRAME, 123 THE TWO YEARS ARE A MERE MOMENT ALTHOUGH THE EVENTS OF THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS HAVE STAGGERED OUR CIVILIZATION' WHAT IS OF EVEN GREATER CONCERN IS THE FACT THE MANY POSITIVE STEPS TOWARDS PROGRESS HAVE NOT BEEN TAKEN. HAS YOUR EDUCATION AT CORNING COMMUNITY COLLEGE GIVEN YOU A WORLD, RATHER THAN A LOCAL PERSPECTIVE? AFTER ALL, ONE DAY YOU WILL BE OVER THIRTY -AND WHAT THEN? DID COLLEGE FIX OR OPEN YOUR MIND TO THE ISSUES OF THE DAY AND THE FUTURE? DID YOU CLOSE YOUR MIND TO THE NEED FOR YOUR ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN DETERMINING THE COURSE OF FUTURE EVENTS OR DID THE COLLEGE SOW THE SEEDS FOR FURTHER STUDY AND INVOLVEMENT? EDUCATION, REDUCED TO ITS SIMPLEST DEFINITION IS PREPARATIONNOT COMPLETION. I SINCERELY HOPE THAT WE AT THE COLLEGE HAVE HELPED YOU TO CHART YOUR COURSE FOR THE YEARS AHEAD AND TO MAKE YOUR BOAT SEA-WORTHY SO THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND WHATEVER THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR YOU.
