Dr. W. Wilbert Welch, Chairman of the board Dr. Wilbert Welch began his preparation at Bob Jones University, where he obtained his A.B. degree with a major in Bible. The following fall the Lord opened the doors of evangelism in Western Mich- igan. In 1944 they returned to Bob Jones where he obtained his Masters degree, and later, his Doctorate in Philosophy, with a major in Systematic Theology. From a thriving ministry in Rome, Georgia, the Lord directed their steps to assume the pastorate of Calvary Baptist Church of Muskegon in 1950. Dr. Welch’s interest in our school began at its very inception, for he was one of its part-time instructors. He was elected to the Board in 1953 and became its chairman three years later. His major ambition for the school is that it be high in its field of Christian instruction, honoring the Lord by giving its students the best possible training. 10

DR. KEITHLEY “The steps of a righteous man are ordered of the Lord.” An important step in a Christian’s life is his preparation for serv- ice. At the Moody Bible Institute Dr. Keithley completed the Bible Missions course, and then attended the Northern Baptist Seminary. He pastored in Sil- ver Lake, Wisconsin and Silvis, Illinois, where he added a wife to his responsibilities and joys, who served with him thirteen years in Buffalo, New York and twenty-one years in the Berean Baptist Church of Grand Rap- ids. There he felt called into another type of Christian serv- ice. At the Baptist Theological Seminary the door was open for him to fill the position of in- terim president. Certainly the Lord has qualified him through rich experience in administra- tion and counseling.

Gowncil Perhaps the most important function of the administration is the Executive Council which determines the policies, the standards and the goals of the school. Once a month they study the details and problems which accumulate from such an educational system. Present needs must often be studied in view of long-range plans. In this way the Council seeks to do a job for the glory of God. Left to right, hack row. William R. Balbach, Otto C. Benjamin, Harold H. Hess, John J. DeVries, Dr. Horace C. Jones, Rev. Reginald L.
