The President “Laborers together with God !” What an exciting designation! What a privileged occupation! Yet infinite wisdom has planned and perfect grace has permitted us to be associated with God Himself in the accomplishment of His program on earth. We have been made part of the divine-human co- operative enterprise for our day and age. God is working in our world, and we are in partnership with Him. Such a relationship obviously bestows great honor. While others may rise in the ranks of distinction because they are involved in some great human undertaking, we who have been chosen to work with the Lord God of Heaven have thereby attained a much more en- viable position. No earthly monarch occupies the place of prestige which the lowliest servant of the King of kings enjoys. But responsibilities accompany such advantages. God's co- laborers are to make sure that, in everything they attempt, they are doing His work and not thoir own. They face the necessity of trans- acting His business in the best possible way, avoiding careless and s lipshod methods as being utterly unworthy of the One with whom they are in partnership. They must never forget that God’s interests are jjji vastly more important than theirs. Yet this arrangement assures us success. Although present re- sults may sometimes dishearten, God’s working with us means that, in the long view of eternity, we cannot fail. In the end He will be seen triumphant, and those who share His work now will share His glory then. My prayer for all members of our school “family” is that all of us may unreservedly put ourselves at the disposal of the Lord, to work in conjunction with Him. 26

The Executive Council The average student knows very little about this important part of the administration. Yet the Executive Council determines all policies of the school and as such serves as its very backbone. Members of this group are elected at the annual meeting of the Grand Rapids Association of Regular Baptists to serve for three- year terms. Once a month the Council pushes through the bulk of problems and details that accumulate from an educational system. In addition to maintaining high standards and making teaching appointments, the Council controls all fiscal matters. Present needs and demands do not completely fill up the agenda. There must also be the long-range planning. This is an important part of the work of the Executive Council as it lays the historical framework of the school. . . Rev. Robert G. Dice, J. Eugene Wright (treasurer), Leonard McPheters, John J. DeVries, William R. Balbach, Frank H. Gordon (secretary), Dr. W. Wilbert Welch (chairman), Rev. J. Edward Hakes (seminary president), Harold H. Hess, Rev. George Adams, Rev. Henry Berends, Rev. N. A. Wiens, Dr. Howard A. Keithley (vice-chairman).
