OUR FIVE-YEAR THEOLOGICAL COURSE The Lord continues to lead our school in steps of advancement. A principal one this year has been the introduction of our new five-year theological course. In previous years the school has had a five-year program made up of two years of pre-Seminary work, followed by the three years of Seminary proper. This program served well, but two factors in particular made a change to the present course advisable. First, the former course contained a minimum of general education which is so desirable if the Christian worker is to have the most effective contact with people from every walk of life. Second, the advanced classes of the Seminary level, designed especially for incoming College graduates, were encountered after only two years of preparation. This worked a distinct hardship on our students. The school has been aware for some time that such a change was advisable. And the fact that other Bible Schools were introducing courses similar to that contem- plated only made this realization the more certain. However, various reasons necessi- tated postponement for a time. But now this year the Lord has made the new program a reality for us, and it is counted a major cause for thanksgiving. This new course is no longer composed of two divisions as before, but runs con- tinuously for the five years. If is constituted of three main emphases. Three is the Bible-centered stress of the many Bible Institute classes included, such as Bible Survey and Bible Anaysis. There is the wider background provision of classes in general education, such as English, History, Sociology, Speech, Psychology, and Greek. And, especially in the last two years, there is the more advanced Seminary level of work, so desirable for the finest service for God. Thus constituted in these three important areas, the course affords a fine, well-rounded means of preparation, and the student may enter directly from High School. The school is grateful to God also that the course has been fully approved for veteran’s benefits. This approval has not been easy to obtain for this course due to the many College type of classes it includes. Assurance must be provided that each measures up o that given in any standard Collage. But God has given us splendid teaching so that the necessary standard has been met to provide this important benefit for us also. — 23 —
