J. EDWARD HAKES, A.B., B.D. President D -L Veview ana retrospection are always engaged in with profit by God's peoo.'e. They enable us to determine to what ex- tent God's will has been fulfilled in cur lives during the time being appraised. They also bring to mind the impressive number of the Lord's blessings which have highlighted our experiences during the past. With these values in view we look back over the 1954-55 academic year. Each member of the student body and of the faculty must discover for himself, of course, the degree to which he permit- ted the desires of the heavenly Father to to be realized in his life. I sincerely trust that the atmosphere and the activities of the school have contributed substan- tially to each one's growth in grace. I believe that, from my point of vantage, I was able to see encouraging evidences of such progress in the lives of many. Surely we would be cjuilty of gross ingratitude did we not ta e note of the many manifestations of our Lord's love and faithfulness with which our way has been brightened since the last Kumi Ori was published. The splendid group of high calibre young people who have made up our studert body. . . . The high morale that has characterized dormitory life. . .. The almost total absence of disci- plinary problems . . . The never-to-be- forgotien experiences in chapel . . . The fine facully-student relationship , . . The remembrance of these, and many others, kindle a fire in our heart under the sac- rifice of praise! Yet, while the past has its fascinations, the future of our students interests me as well. I trust that the days before us will be as rich and glorious as God wants to make hem. May He prosper you!
