Hu1 college of I li IS 11’ I I I I IS K dean win. i. myers Those who are fortunate enough to he connected with the College of Agriculture know that their school is one of the best and most progressive in the country. Established by New York State in 1901 to develop and teach new agricultural techniques, the “Ag School” has proved a boon to the state’s farming. The college carries out its work in three phases: teaching of farming and agricultural techniques to the students; research and development of new methods: and extension teaching of modern techniques to farmers, in co-operation with county agents. The upper campus, home of the College of Agriculture, hums with undergraduate activities of all kinds, which culminate each spring in Farm and Home Week, put on in conjunction with the College Home Economics to exhibit new farm techniques to the farming public. 22

Til THE CUSS OF 1953: On June fifteenth, you will take on a new status as a Cornellian. You will become an alumnus, one of the large and friendly family of Cornell Alumni. The Alumni Association extends its heartiest congratulations to you and welcomes you as a new member. 1953 has already asserted itself through its ambition, strength and desire to Ik a well-knit Class. The record you have set academically and in Campus activities is sure to 1m reflected in the Cornell Alumni organizations throughout the world. The Association is the liaison between you as alumni and the faculty, administration and students. All former students are members without paying dues. Be sure to notify the Alumni Office, Kdinund Ezra Day Hall, Ithaca, New York, promptly of any address changes so that you may keep abreast of Alumni affairs. There are many services provided by the Alumni Association. Among others there is the Alumni News to keep you informed on the whereabouts ol your Classmates and news of the Campus. Next year you will be called upon to vote for Alumni Trustees of the University and soon after you will return to your first Reunion. Cornell Clubs throughout the world provide an excellent way of becoming acquainted in your community. As an unofficial representative of the University you will have an opportunity to help bring talented young people to Cornell. In other words, as a member of the Cornell Class of 1953 you will be a constant ambassador-at-large of your Alma Mater. May you carry over your undergraduate energy into continuing service to Cornell! 21

dean t. w. mackesey Bending over drafting boards heaped with sketches of art centers and office buildings, we find the architect. Mis famed individualism and creative abilities have made his college distinctive. In the drafting room where students and faculty work closely together through critiques, the bond of his profession is strongly felt, and when charette time inevitably rolls around, he hibernates for endless days up in White’s fourth floor with others of his class. But by no means is his talent confined to tin activities in White Hall. Between calculating storage spaces and beam deformations, he takes time out to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day or throw the biennial Beaux-Arts Ball. Whether preparing for a festive event, meeting a problem deadline, or studying the humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences, he is preparing for his life as an Architect.
