The Naval Training School consists of three main groups: the NRO.-l-.C., the V-'IQ unit, and the V-5 unit, being composed ol approximately nine hundred men. The station statl consists ol thirty-live otlicers and Fifty enlisted personnel. The Diesel School lor student otticers and the United States Naval Reserve Midshipmen School have disappeared lrom the Cornell campus, being replaced by the lNl.R.O.'l.C. and the V-'iQ unit which are now consolidated. Approximately two hundred and Fifty men are in V-5 which is an aviation preparatory program. lVlost ol these men are enrolled in the College ol Arts and Sciences. Two hundred and twenty-Four men are in the V-'IQ unit and are enrolled in the College of Engineering. The lNl.R.O.-l.C. was established at Cornell on November 'l, 1945. There are now Four hundred and lorty-one men in this program who are enrolled in all the various colleges. The lNl.R.O.'l'.C. will be leaving in July, 1946. It is probable that the wartime N.R,O.T.C. will be swung into the peacetime lXl.R.O.l-.C. as it has always been lcnown. The N.R.O.l-.C. is an otlicer candidate college training program, and the students under this program will get a degree and commission alter completing eight terms. 24 I

arinezi Cornell's peacetime campus sees the Marine unit decreasing in size as many of the men are Finishing up their course of seven or eight terms. At present there are approximately one hundred Marines with one-third of that numloer graduating this year. These men repre- sent the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Filth, and Sixth Marine Divisions. Marine trainees have talcen an active part in campus life, both in activities and sports. Marines compose part of every Cornell sport team, and have done much in the entertain- ment Field through individual vocal groups. Most of these men are to he Found enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, and those Finishing their course here expect to he commissioned in the Marine Corps Reserve. l l Q5
