“Speed: Acfiv 7 b SPEECH CONTEST Again this year our school was represented in the Illinois High School Association Speech Contest Representing our school were Carol McMenamin, Comedy Play Reading, Barbara Smith, Orig- inal Monologue, Judith McC1ane, Serious Play Reading,Paul1ne Mon- roe, Extempore Verse Reading, Judy Godden, After-Dinner Speaking, Howard Burton, Original Oration Manta! Acfiw' fb MUSIC CONTEST On March 12, 1955. the followlng quartets and solos went to Manteno for the District Ensemble and Solo Contest The Senior Clarinet Quartet, Barbara Smith, Nancy Schuler, LaVerne Wagner, Rosalie Cashmer, The Junior Clarinet Quartet, Judy Godden, Joan Redfern, Barbara Richardson, Judith HcClane, Saxaphone Quartet, Gerald Fulkerson, Barbara Smith, Betty Farero, Jane Garretson, Drum Solo, Howard Burton, Vocal Solo, Hariyln Fhlkerson, Marimba Solo, Judith McClane, Piano Solo, Joan Redfern The concert band took part in the music organization contests The selections played were The Liberty Bell John Philip Sousa Pilgrim Chorus Wagner and Holmes CHORUS The vocal department of the school's musical program includes the mixed chorus and the girls' chorus The girls' chorus pre sented part of the program for the junior play, 'The Inner Willy? on November 18 and 19, 195A Both boys' and girls' chorus sang in the School Christmas Program on December 19, 195A There were 57 members enrolled in mix d chorus and 36 members in the girls' BAND The band played at the senior play and the Christmas Program The pep band played at the Graymont Farmers Co operat4ve Associ ation, supplying the day's entertainment The concert band par tlcipated in the Livingston County Music Festival March 5 was the date of the spring concert The concert band entered the district contest at Hanteno with the following members Earl Coffey, Jim Garretson,Larry Gourley, Kay Gourley, Pauline Monroe,Dean Hamilton, Sharon Girard, Ronald Girard, Betty Farero, Kipton Mills, Gall Erschen, Howard Burton Dick Hatzer, Marilyn Fulkerson, Jessie Green, Gerald Fu1k6PS0n Bob Russow, Judy Godden, Dale Limback, Nancy Lauritzen Judith McC1ane, Carol Mchenamin, Joan Redfern, Barbara Richardson, Nancy Schuler, Barbara Smith, LaVerne Wagner, Kenneth Earp The Gypsy Festival: Z . . . . .
