Eesksillbnalll The Cornell Cardinals brought the basketball season to a close with ll wins and 16 losses Seven of those losses came by five points or less, which means that ahnost every game was a spectators dellght Four of the victories came in the six LL Con ference games, giving the Cardinals a tie for Conference chanpl onship and a first place trophy The varsitv team took second place in the LL tournament lor the SBLUHQ trophy of the year In the Midstate Conlerence, Cornell wa held to the second division, but scored some upsets to claim sixth place The Cardinals scored two victories to advance to the cham pionship tilt in the Hennepin District Tourney, only to lose to a sizzling opponent Three seniors were members of the starting five and contrib uted much to the team but should easily be replaced by advancing junior varsity members Those graduatlng are Gene Snyder, Dick Shult, and Gene Farero Co Captains for the 1953 S14 season were Dick Shult and Gene 1 0 f x 47 Farero.- - i'M Wg- 4 7 C I X 31, 9
