U 'i 'J al ANNUAL A fl 2? 3 Q., VX it Excepting music, the compilation of the annual is the l st, most continuous extra-curricular activity in school. The staff is selected early in the school year so that accurate records of all the various activities of the school can be collected and filed. Many different jobs on the staff call for a large complement of officers under the direction of the editor-in-chief, who is responsible for the progress of the entire book. The business manager has the next most responsible place on the staff, since the financial success of the year-book depends on him. He must solicit advertising in sufficient quantities to defray much of the expense of the book, as well as to sell the completed book to the students, Since the editor-in-chief and the business manager have the most work to do, each is assigned an assistant from the junior class, these assistants thus gaining usefull knowledge and experience to take over the editorship and the business manager- ship in their senior years. The work of the copy editor and his assistant is to see that the written material for the book is turned in, properly proof-read, and typed. The sports editors compile athletic records and statistics, write reports of the season's activities, and turn them in to the copy editor. Collection of snap-shots and the making of the picture pages is the job of the picture editor and assistants. The art editor plans the theme of the book and makes the necessary drawings and illustrations. Little heralded but of utmost significance are the typists who put into final form all write-ups and picture legends. The job of the faculty-adviser is to select the staff in the fell and to make suggestions as to policy and construction and to help with the more technical details. This year's staff was composed of the following: Editor-in-chief, Arlene Hurl- burtg Junior editor, Betty Ruth Crawford, Business manager, Robert Henrioksong Junior business manager, Arthur Johnsong Copy editor, Estil Schildg Assistant, Dale Stollg Picture editor, Colesta Moussetteg Snap-shots, Lucille Shuda, Fae Nelson, Senior and group pictures, Norma Maurer, Jeannette Jones, Typists, Marcella Purfeerst, Kathryn Schone, Betty Capaul, Lauretta Grotteg Adviser, Mr. Soderstrom. -14-
