The Ram cheerleaders start off Homecoming with a burst of enthusiasm. Fireworks Set Off Homecoming Weekend Homecoming '67 looked back to the Roofing Twenties for its theme and everyone cooperated to make it a successful weekend-that is, everyone but the Kohawks. The traditional torchlight parade in Ash Park was held on Friday night. Ram supporters wore buttons with the slogan Hey, baby, l'm gonna mash your face. The pep rally included fireworks and the announcement of the Homecoming Queen and her court. Cornellians chose Sue McMasters as their queen. Her court con- sisted of Meredith Mclntire, Linda Cook, Barb Jackson and Vicki Brownlee. The Nlilts and the ATA's tied for first with their Roaring Twenties parade floats while the Kappa Thetas won sole honors among the women's social groups. Joe Spiegel pays tribute to a representative of the Cor- nell student body.

Freshman Week Crashed by Kohawks Jennifer Rugg displays not only her singing and dramatic abilities, but other things as well. Cornell welcomed 320 new freshmen to the campus this year, most of them endured the trials of New Stu- dent Week. For their first Cornell mixer the freshmen were paired off by computer. Several days after their arrival on campus, downtown Mt. Vernon was filled with students wearing recently acquired Cornell sweat- shirts and carrying various new accessories for their college rooms. During New Student Week the summer reading of the freshmen was discussed with faculty members and upperclassmen and the freshmen were acquainted with various aspects of Cornell life. An unexpected highlight came to Orientation Week as four Coe College freshmen on a beanie snatching raid were captured by alert Cornell monks and given a just and unbiased trial before an all Ram iury. Attorney for the defense, Baron Bremner Esq., was denied his re- quest for a change of venue for the defendants and the monks' verdict sent the four longhaired Kohawk frosh away with shaven heads and caused a few Cornell students to wonder whether or not the monks belonged to the human race or to a tribe of savages. With the closing of New Student Week, the profound declarations of humility from the freshmen, their plying of the shoeshine trade and the wearing of beanies were replaced by English seminars and afternoons in science labs. Kate Kanealy and her folkswingers de- light everyone with their welI-harmo- nized folk melodies. Kim the Ching adds an exotic note to Freshman Talent Show and is heartily applauded by the deprived upperclass men. 'v
