CLASS HISTORY ln the fall of 1946, a group of homes i ck, timid, but excited boys and girls stepped into the class room at Corinth-Holders for the First time, trembling in our shoes as we stepped. At the same time another group, Fitting the some description, entered the first grade at Archers Lodge. These two grovps merged in the fall of i954 as the Freshman Class of Corinth--Holders High School. This venture into high school was one of the most exciting and interesting steps in our lives. This first year, we were somewhat afraid because we were just Simple, green Freshmen. With our guides, Mr. George Spirtos and Mr. Yancey Aycock, we became sophomores. h The second year, we had as our leaders Miss Ruth Jones and Mr. Clarence Woodard. With their guidance we were soon iuniors. As iuniors we had Mrs. Stuart Murphy and Mr. Yancey Aycock to aid in guiding us. By this time we were acquiring a few more responsibilities . In our iunioryearwe enjoyed presenting our class play, Strictly Confidential. We also entered a magazine sales campaign in which we defeated the seniors. Then came the event we had waited for so long--the Junior-Senior Banquet. We had a very lovely evening at the S. 8. W. Cafeteria, Raleigh. That night will always have a place in each of our hearts. We finally became seniors, a dream which became a reality after eleven long years. lnto nine short months, under the leadership of Mrs. Stuart Murphy and Mr. Clarence Woodard, we packed many happy events, including, class parties, an annual, selecting and receiving class rings, pre- senting a class play, selecting invitations and calling cards, attending a Junior-Senior Banquet, sponsoring a barbecue supper, and, finally, making plans for a trip to Washington to mark the end of twelve happy years together. As we goout to take our places in the world, we carry with us the many happy and ioyous mem- ories of our days here at Corinth-Holders High School. We hope to prove ourselves worthy and cap- alal leaders as we go out to seek and Find our own places in the world. JEAN HINTO N Class Historian Page I7
