CLASS HISTORY ln the fall of 1946, a group of homes i ck, timid, but excited boys and girls stepped into the class room at Corinth-Holders for the First time, trembling in our shoes as we stepped. At the same time another group, Fitting the some description, entered the first grade at Archers Lodge. These two grovps merged in the fall of i954 as the Freshman Class of Corinth--Holders High School. This venture into high school was one of the most exciting and interesting steps in our lives. This first year, we were somewhat afraid because we were just Simple, green Freshmen. With our guides, Mr. George Spirtos and Mr. Yancey Aycock, we became sophomores. h The second year, we had as our leaders Miss Ruth Jones and Mr. Clarence Woodard. With their guidance we were soon iuniors. As iuniors we had Mrs. Stuart Murphy and Mr. Yancey Aycock to aid in guiding us. By this time we were acquiring a few more responsibilities . In our iunioryearwe enjoyed presenting our class play, Strictly Confidential. We also entered a magazine sales campaign in which we defeated the seniors. Then came the event we had waited for so long--the Junior-Senior Banquet. We had a very lovely evening at the S. 8. W. Cafeteria, Raleigh. That night will always have a place in each of our hearts. We finally became seniors, a dream which became a reality after eleven long years. lnto nine short months, under the leadership of Mrs. Stuart Murphy and Mr. Clarence Woodard, we packed many happy events, including, class parties, an annual, selecting and receiving class rings, pre- senting a class play, selecting invitations and calling cards, attending a Junior-Senior Banquet, sponsoring a barbecue supper, and, finally, making plans for a trip to Washington to mark the end of twelve happy years together. As we goout to take our places in the world, we carry with us the many happy and ioyous mem- ories of our days here at Corinth-Holders High School. We hope to prove ourselves worthy and cap- alal leaders as we go out to seek and Find our own places in the world. JEAN HINTO N Class Historian Page I7

Page I6 CLASS MOTTO Today We Launch, Where Shall We Anchor?' CLASS COLORS Blue and White CLASS SONG Good-bye, Good-bye to good old Corinth-High, The time has come, we must say good-bye. We've had our work, love and play, Found joys and sorrows in every way. We must say good-bye to our teachers, Who've helped us through the years before, Although we've had doubts and fears, We'll remember them throughout the years. Graduation's here and we must part, We'll keep our classmates within our hearts. Now as we start our separate ways, We'll say good-bye to old Corinth-High. LE NA JOHNSON Class Song Writer CLASS FLOWER Red Rose CLASS POEM Good-bye High School Now that we must say good-bye We are sad, while our hearts fly high. Another task has been done Through years of work, play and fun. Though we shall go our separate ways, We'll never forget our high school days. Another life we must face With the help of God and his loving grace. For those who 've guided us through, Deep in our hearts, we love you. And to the classes that still remain There's nothing to lose, but all to gain. Dear Corinth-Holders,as we leave you behind, We know to others you'll be iust as kind. And with the hardships, we did find A profound pleasure of some kind. As we pass through this sacred gate, Please guide us, the class of '58, Hold our heads high and keep pride in our chests, Dear God, help us to discover the road to success.
