Our transportation was the Train of Education. Our destination was graduation. As we started out on our journey we had Miss Mary Louise Cook and Mr. Charles Carroll as our conductors. Although it sometimes became rough we mode the first part of our journey successfully. After having a very good time together we stopped for a rest in the spring of 1951. In the fall of 1951 we started back on our journey. As we got aboard our train we found that we had two new conductors, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Heath. We got along very fine during this part of our journey because we were better acquainted with high school. We stopped for another short rest in the spring of 1952. ln the fall we set out on our journey again. With the help of our conductors, Mr. and Mrs. Heath, we got a very fine start during the third lap of our journey. We presented a play, Aunt Samanthy Rules the Roost. We also honored the Seniors with a banquet at the Cherry Hotel in Wilson. We had a very successful magazine campaign this year. We stopped again for another short rest. ln the fall of 1953 we continued on the last mile of our journey and also the most important one. We found that we had another new conductor, Mrs. Clio Vann. We could hardly realize that we were so near the end of our long journey. We knew that the last part of our journey was going to be a busy one so we started working with a strong determination to have a successful year. We began working on our annual as soon as was possible. Although it was hard work, we enjoyed it, and feel that it was worth the work. Then we selected our class ring. Later on we presented a class play and went to a Junior-Senior Banquet in our honor. We were nearing the end of our journey. Now that our journey is ending, we are sad because we know that we must part from our fellow travelers and conductors with whom we have become very well acquainted. As we reach our destination, we realize that the conclusion of this journey is merely the beginning of many more important ones for which we hope we are prepared. Through the years we will recall All the ioys and friendships nigh, And the pleasant memories At Corinth High. We have worked here for twelve long years, With the teachers who helped us through, But the time now has come When we must say adieu. Though this sad night means goodbye, We will treasure with a sigh And remember it fore'er, Dear Corinth High. Nell Godwin Class Songwriter inn, ! CLASS PGEM In a schoolroom long ago we met, To begin a career we'll ne'er forget, Our hearts and minds were united together By a class spirit and love tor each other. X This class spirit guided us through strife, Hardships, joys and thrills ot school life, Then came our motto, lived up to by all: United we stand, divided we tall. We express deep thanks to teachers dear, Who so patiently guided us year by year, Sharing with us our heartaches and sorrows, Preparing us all forthe land ot tomorrow. And now when we must saygood-bye, We'll ne'er forget you, Oh Corinth-High, With our triends and loved ones we must part, But these memories we'll cherish in our hearts. So as we leave this place to begin anew, The work that the world has .tor us to do, May God bless and keep sate torevermore, This class of Nineteen Hundred and Fifty-Four. Time has passed quickly, but one cannot forget the days that used to be. As I reminisce during the time my French students are using for study, I think of my classmates, and their professions. Just the other day I received a letter from a dear friend and classmate, the former NELL GODWIN. She told me that JOY RAE HINTON, ELLEN GREEN and PATRICIA BOYETTE have also become fine house- wives. I remember KENNETH WALl.'S fine talent for singing, and it has carried him places. He now sings with the Arthur Godfrey show. NELSON WILDER manages the CBS Station at which ALICE PRICE is a secretary. LARRY TIPPETT has his own business which manufactures buttons. I understand JEAN BARNES is his bookkeeper and accountant. Speaking of business, HUGH HINTON, having maiored in Pharmacy at U. N. C., operates the Hinton Drug Co. in Raleigh. Just around the corner from him, MAMIE and MILDRED BOYETTE run their exclusive dress shop. GLORIA FAYE CARROLL has her own hat shop nearby. In the field of teaching, MARGIE PRICE is at Corinth-Holders teaching English. BETTY MAE FREEMAN teaches Commercial subjects and SHELBY FOWLER is physical education director. In the same school, Mr. O. C. Freeman has retired and GLENN MOORE has taken his place as principal. GARNER ANDREWS and MARVIN BOYKIN operate Trailway Bus Lines. Their competitor, incident- ally, is WELDON TIPPETT in the Greyhound business. In the air, WYATT EASON and GRADY THOMASSON are pilots, AUDREY MOONEYHAM and MAMIE REE NARRON are stewardesses on their planes. Also in the field of travel, STEVEN RICHARDSON eng- ineers a train on which DONALD BOYETTE is a conductor. THOMAS DAVIS and JIMMY DOAN resorted to submarines. RODNEY BROWN and FAYE BRINKLEY have taken over the I Love Lucy Show. They have made an even greater hit than Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez. ERNESTINE COOKE is chief photographer for the New York Times and YVONNE BARHAM is her assistant. CRAIG MURPHY is circulation manager of the paper, and BOBBY BAILEY is a wonderful cartoon artist. RUDEAN ATKINSON and PEGGY GODWIN are typists on a paper in a neighboring city. On the political side, RONALD HOCUTT, JR. is running for a position in the House of Representatives, and JESSE MURPHREY is his campaign manager. HAROLD NARRON was recently elected Vice-President of the United States. I can recall when he served so faithfully for years as vice-president of our class. My pondering must come to a close, for the bell is ringing and my third period French class will be coming in. My ambition is to be able to give the children I teach something to help them -reach goals as high as those attained by members of the Class of 1954.
