E Iillt CLASS Ill 'l'0liY Almost four years ago, on September 2, TQ46, a group of timid, inexperienced children wandered into the halls of Corinth-Holders High School as Freshmen. Then we were iust kids , now we are the mighty seniors about whom people are talking. Our high school years have been filled with work and play, responsibilities and pleasures, laughter and tears, but when the going was tough someone gave a helping hand. We owe our excellent beginnings to the wise council of our principal, Mr. Freeman, and to our freshman teachers, Miss Britt, Mrs. Valentine, and Mrs. Holifield. Looking back we remember our Christ- mas party and other social gatherings. What fun! This was an exciting year, but we learned that there was time for studying as well as for fun. Before anyone could say Pocomoke we had become Sophomores. Now, we were really getting up into Society! Our knees didn't knock any more when a Senior passed. To make our year even more successful we had Mr. Carswell as our sponsor. When we became Juniors we began to find that Seniors weren't so ferocious. As a matter of fact we were eagerly awaiting the time that we could take the lead. Our officers were: President, Laura Wilder, Vice-President, Hester Narron, Secretary, Ruth Wheeler, and Treasurer, C. R. Johnson. Miss Lyerly, our sponsor helped with our successful Class Play, Meet My Wives. Then with our newly acquired dignity we sponsored A Junior-Senior Banquet, the theme being Bluebird of Happiness. And the Victory! When we became Seniors, we needed to buy larger hots. Miss Sadler bravely accepted the honor of being our sponsor. We bestowed the office of President upon Thomas Poole, Louise Stancil became Vice-President, and C. R. Johnson made an efficient Secretary and Treasurer. Our Senior year was a whirlwind of events. We published an Annual, The Corinthian. How happy we were when the time came for us to order our class rings. Our Senior Play was profitable and success- ful. Then came our wonderful trip to Washington. This trip is one that will be long remembered by each of us. Springtime came, and we were honored by the Juniors who gaxfe us a lovely Banquet. And then our Senior days approached an end with the preparations for our class night, The Baccalaureate Sermon, and Commencement. Now we leave our Alma Mater in the competent hands of our successors. We trust that they will do honor to the school, our principal, our teachers, to the future generation and to us, The Alumni. CAMILLA BRANTLEY Class Historian
