Senior Clfass H1'sfory We find ourselves standing in thepresent state of NOW, a happy past behind us and an unknown future ahead. We have spent many happy days together and shared many interesting experiences and labored together toward one common goal, ln the year i943 thirty-seven freshmen entered high school under the leadership of Mrs. Mildred Strickland. Mr. Freeman was our new principal Feeling our imporQ tance at first, we soon learned that high school was not a place of play, but that we would have to work to reach our goal. We elected our class officers who were: President, Matt Ward, Vice President, Dorothy Anne johnson, Secretary, julia Anne Perry, Treasurer, Tommie Eleanor Holder and then we settled down to work, We experienced the hardships of freshmen, took all the teasing of our higher classmen and still had a wonderful year. Our greatest event that year was a chicken fry. Then we were Sophomoresl Our sponsor, Miss jean Forsyth, was our'new teacher. There were twenty-eight members in our class. Gur class officers werei President, Matt Ward, Vice President, A, B. Congleton, Secretary, Rachel Maody. Treasurer, Tommie Eleanor Holder, Cne of the events during that year was the Hallowe'en Carnival at which we made quite a showing for ourselves assponsors of the Bingo Stand. At last we were juniorsl Our goal was almost accomplished. Six students from Archer Lodge became a part of our class that year. They were Gene Castleberry. Cene Fowler, Henry Claire Creene, Ruby Ray C-ordon, Betty Mae Murphrey and Alton Stanley. The most important event of the year was our junior Play, The Path Across The Hill, starring members of the class. This play and our part in the Hallowe'en Carnival financially prepared us to give the Seniors of '46 a juHior-Senior Banquet. Our sponsor was Miss Forsyth and the class officers wereg President, A. B. Congleton, Vice President, julia Anne Perry, Secretary, Ruby Ray Cordon, Treasurer, Dorothy Anne johnson. Now, fellow classmates, we have come to the most important of all the four years of high school. The year that we, as Seniors, lead our school, We hope that we have set an example for the classes that follow. Again the students from Archer Lodge have joined our class, but this time there were only five and with some other losses from our class we have a class of twenty-six Seniors. We chose as our class officers this year President, A. B. Congleton, Vice President, Matt Ward, Secretary, Ruby Ray Cordon, Treasurer, Mary Lee Pleasant. Miss Forsyth is our sponsor. This has been a wonderful year with many activities.. At the beginning of the year we began work on our i947 edition of the Corinthian. This was new work for all of us, but it was also interesting. Then we gave our Senior Play, Hook, Line and Sinkerl , a three-act comedy that kept our audience laughing, Next was the junior- Senior Banquet given by the junior Class, ltwas formal and the decorations were made up of the Senior Class colors, blu-e and white, and class flower, pink roses. We, the Seniors of '47 have had a most thrilling year and have enjoyed it very much. We feel now that we are better prepared to go out into the world and choose for ourselves the right vocation and friends. Now that our goal has been reached, we are leaving our school to make room for a new class of students that are in search of the goal we have attained. May we, as Seniors of '47 wish for you and the entire school many more happy events and the best of luck for a successful future. DAPHNE , EASON, Historian.
