enior Class History Classmates, for many years now, we have been sitting in the cinders, so to speak. We will think of the cinders as the work years we spent in high school. We have been trudging along, acquiring the fundamentals of education and the art of living with ourselves and one another. Sitting in the cinders has not been so bad.because we have had happy and gay times together. We have obeyed with meekness and humility the rules and regulations of Cinderland. All worthwhile things are gained by a price. We have paid that price as we have written our history through these years. ln the year of 1942, a group of Freshmen, now known as Seniors, entered high school under the leadership of Mrs. Watson and Mr. Ensor. We felt so mature and experienced at first, to actually be in high school, but our Sophomore friends soon put us in our places, and made us feel our freshness. We took up our diverse studies and the changing of classes energetically and enthusiastically under our new teachers. We experienced the thrills and good times that only Freshmen can, through a happy year. With'our Sophomore title, we also undertook more responsibilities in outside activities, as well as in our school work. Our teachers during that year were Mrs. Watson, Miss Austin, and Mr. Ensor. Our third year in high school was an enjoyable one. We felt quite important as tenth graders. As we looked back over our records and activities in high school, they seemed unimportant and small to us. We resolved to do bigger and better things. We began to fulfill our resolution by first helping to present our annual Hallowe'en Carnival. It was a hugesuccess and helped us a great deal financially. We presented our first class play, f'Marrying Margaret, which increased our funds for giving our 'friends the Seniors of '44, .a .lunior-Senior Banquet. Mr. Freeman was our new principal that year. Our fourth year in high school was a memorable one. We felt all of our importance by being eleventh graders. That year we presented another class play, l Will, l Won'tl , which truly proved to be a success. Miss Austin was our sponsor. Now, we have come to the portal leading out into life. This last year in our high school has been one of combined study and pleasure. We have grown somewhat beyond the grind of the Junior year into the larger freedom that goes with being Seniors. in the fall of '45, the graduating students of Archer Lodge School, together with the graduating students of Corinth Holder School, met to form what is now the Seniors of '46. Our class is the first graduating class from the twelfth grade, and we deeply feel proud and honored at this wonderful opportunity. We have enrolled in the Senior Class 29 students, 8 which ioined us from Archer Lodge. They are .Charles Barnes, Jake Barnes, Sallie Sue Barnes, Silas Cooke, Carolyn Eason, Pauline Gardner, Maxine Pleasants, and Dan Wall.
