Millington, Jr. 1967 — 1977 Small Steps Do not despair, that you cannot change The world in a day or two. Instead, just give your very best In the little things you do. Then you will find in days to come When taken all together. These little steps did change and make The world a little better. Thomas C. Gallagher Melissa Mae Millis 1967 — 1986 As graduation day approaches, we wish you were here to share it with us. You made our world a little better. DEDICATION We, the Class of 1987, proudly dedicate this yearbook to our parents. They have spent and continue to spend countless hours helping us reach our desired goals. They have taught us the ways of the world, to preserve our individuality, and most importantly, have stood firmly by us through all of our endeavors. During a period of decision making and great change, our par- ents have been the most stable element in our lives; for this they deserve our eternal gratitude. WE SAY THANK YOU Mr. Hall The 1987 yearbook began with many obstacles, but thanks to the help of our advisors Mrs. Bange-Hall, and Miss Robear, it soon took a turn for the better. On one hand, Mrs. Bange-Hall's constant understanding and care have proven to us that adults actually were in our shoes once. She realizes the many pressures we face, is aware of our extremely busy schedule, and somehow manages to deal with these facts. On the other hand, Miss Robear's contagious confidence and determination served to motivate us. By striving for excellence herself, she directed us all toward a common goal. She simply got us working. As a result of their joining together, this book of memories has been created. So what? So, twenty years from now, we will be able to look back on our high school years and remember them forever. We, the class of 1987, thank you both Mrs. Bange-Hall and Miss Robear for your helpful guidance. We, the Class of 1987, express our appreciation and gratitude to Mr. David E. Hall. During the six years of our high school career, Mr. Hall has stood by us and offered his much appreciated support in our numerous endeavors. Our principal has nurtured and encouraged us when we felt few cared. Mr. Hall taught us not to dwell on past mistakes, but rather to look to the future with optimism. He has been a valuable asset to The Class of 1987, and his efforts will be fondly remembered in the years to come as we ponder our high school experiences. 4 FACULTY Mr. Warren Gemmill Mr. Steven O'Shea Administrative Assistant Business Manager ADMINISTRATION Mr. Thomas Gould Superintendent Mr. David Hall High School Principal Mr. John Sprague Elementary Principal BOARD OF EDUCATION (Front Row L to R) Mrs. Rabida, Mr. Kuebler, Mr. Crannell (Back Row L to R) Mrs. Densmore, Rev. Aldridge, Mrs. Williams, Mr. Fuller Dear Members of the Class of 1987: With graduation, you will reach a significant milestone in your young lives. You have been well prepared to meet what lies ahead. You will find that your education obtained at Corinth Central is only a small part of your total education, for life is an education. You will now have to concern yourselves with such things as running a home, making investments and stretching the dollar to make ends meet. If you have prepared well, life's challenges and burdens will be met and conquered. The teen years are thought to be some of your happiest times but your greatest and most significant moments are yet to come. Use your future well, reflect back on the material learned in high school and build on those lessons and experiences. But most of all enjoy life, and don't forget to have fun. Before coming to Corinth, he taught a year in Philadelphia, New York. Mr Milligan came to Corinth Central in 1959 and will retire with twenty-eight years of service John Sprague has worked for Corinth Central School since 195J Mr Sprague taught seventh and eighth grade Math from 1953 to 1958 and then became an Administrator He has been both an effective leader and a strong supporter of student responsibility. He claims his most memorable moment was when the first kindergarten he supervised, graduated Mr Sprague’s retirement plans include travelling in the United States and Canada with his wife and learn- ing to play golf His parting words to Corinth ' I feel I have been very fortunate with my career here, and I have never been disappointed that I chose Corinth. If I had the chance to do it over again. I definitely would I have great faith and pride in Cornith Central. Fred Sweet has taught at Corinth Central School for twenty-six and one-half years. His initial assignment at Corinth included seventh, eighth and ninth grade Math and Science In recent years however. Mr Sweet has taught Math. The greatest changes Mr Sweet has observed over the years include: a decrease in student motivation and discipline and a move to a more informal clothing style. Mr Sweet's most memorable moment was when a student earned 100% for a marking period in his Math class His retirement plans consist of playing golf, skiing, travelling, and doing some work for a local contractor Mr Sweet's parting words are 1 feel that the faculty here at Conntfi has been a good group to work with We have been together a long time, and we have grown together, and have had many enjoyable moments I will miss them. Stuart Thomas started in our school system in Sep- tember 1961 He. at one time or another worked in all three outside schools • South Corinth. Palmer, and Main street Now South Corinth school is closed He said. He always enjoyed getting to know the elemen- tary students and watching them grow into mature young adults. Mr Thomas witnessed many changes take place in the school system - such as tne new high school li- brary with the Audio Visual Department added, the renovations in the Art and Science Departments - all the computers installed throughout the school It amazed him to see the students sit down and start to use computers with little or no problems Now I reflect back over the past twenty-five years and think about my great association with all the employees. Administration, and student body I know I'm going to miss everyone very much, however. I am looking forward to my years ahead I will have lots of time to catch up on all those jobs around the house, walk with my dog. play golf in the summer and do some travelling. ___________________________________ Milton York has worked for Corinth Central School for twenty-nine years. He began his career as a Bus Mechanic and leaves his post as Head Mechanic. Mr. York's most memorable moment was when his picture was printed on the Community calendar in the early 1960's. ANONYMOUS STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN JUNIOR PROM MAY 17, 1986 The months of February, March, and April 1986 were hectic for the Junior Class. May 17th, everything came together, and we hit the Saratoga Holiday Inn like a whirlwind. A year-long celebration beginning in November, 1985 was to commemorate this anniversary. A Miss Village Pageant was the first event held and the queens chosen in the various age groups presided over all Centennial events. The Founder's Day Dinner served in our school cafeteria allowed an overflowing crowd to hear the reflections of several Corinthians including Dr. Richard Pitkin and State Supreme Court Judge Loren Brown. Winter Centennial events included caroling, sleigh rides, an ice fishing contest and a Youth Hockey Tournament. A Christmas tree lighting service and Girls Basketball Tour- nament were also held and will become annual events. The 2nd half of the Centennial Year brought an Orange Crate Derby, Little League Tournament, July 4th Celebra- tion, Quilt Show, Parade and Centennial Ball. To bring our Centennial Year to a close an Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service was held, which will also be an annual gathering. Our Centennial Celebration brought together young and old and made us realize how very fortunate we are to live in a community such as Corinth. Finally, we thank Mrs. Bange-Hall and Miss Robear for those sudden bursts of energy and support during rough spots. Without your support, this treasure of memories could not have been produced. We leave Corinth High School with our memories and a message to those who follow. For one to succeed in the production of a yearbook, or the production of anything that holds value in our lives, it is important to remember that working together makes the road easier to travel. Good Luck, Ooduom ‘TfY JuwsPian— Editor-in-Chief As the advisors for the 1986-87 yearbook, we take this opportunity to give special recognition to Dawn Tooker, Editor-in-Chief. Dawn, you became our inspiration this year. When the staff began to dwindle, you kept plugging away. When the deadline was overdue, you never gave in. When quick meetings turned into two hour cropping sessions, you were still able to smile and assure us that it would be done. Thank you. Dawn, for your consistency and willingness to give more than 100%. Without you, there would be no 1986-87 yearbook.
