Last Will Testament 128 I DEDICATION We, the Class of 1979, proudly dedicate our yearbook to a very special and deserving group. Our Parents! From kindergarten to graduation they've stood behind us totally. Their love and deep understanding for the needs of us as individuals has helped to create minds in us which are totally individual. Not only are we individuals but we are also united as one, the class of 1979. We hold highly many morals and values which originated in the minds of our parents! Our parents have helped to get us the best start in life possible. Through aid in withstanding the pressures of student life and growing up as a whole. They helped us through “bumps and bruises, “potty training, “sniffles, disappointing love affairs, puberty, growing up in general, report cards, “The Junior Prom and most recently our last year in high school. Mom and Dad, you've been through alot with us. You're our guardian angels. Your love, affection and devotion is appreciated, more than you'll ever know. Thank you Mom and Dad. WE LOVE YOU!! APPRECIATION The Class of '79 would like to recognize some very important people by giving our warmest thoughts of gratitude. Mr. Miller and Mr. MacDougall, our advisors. They stuck with us all the way from 10th grade. Their help and guidance has helped us to achieve success in raising money for a senior trip and caps and gowns for graduation. Their aid is deeply appreciated as we start our long journey through life. As high school is very important to the rest of our life, Mr. Miller and Mr. MacDougal have given us an excellent start with many fond memories. The Class of '79 also like to gratefully thank Pete Cloutier and Cam-art Stu- dios for the fine work they've done in Corinth Schools since 1970. They created those wonderful pictures of us in grade school which shall be cherished always. They also photographed our proms, our seniors and many of our yearbook scenes. Their kindness and dedication to the students of Corinth wil be gra- ciously appreciated when looking back at high school days through pictures. The Class of 1979 would finally like to extend our warmest appreciation to the Guidance Department Mr. Matino, Mr. Duval, and Mrs. Turcotte. Each one has dedicated themselves to the improvement of us as individuals. Their devo- tion is phenomenal!! They aided in achieving the best possible education for each of our particular interests and goals. They've patted us on the back knocked us down, and wiped our tears if need be. Thank-you for all your help and guid- ance, you've helped one of the most dynamic generations start life with a suc- cessful outlook!! C.H.S. will greatly miss Mrs. St. Lawrence's presence in the school. She has been with the school system for twenty-two years. Of those years, she has taught elementary and reading classes, high school and junior high school (social studies). She also has been a student council advisor. Her encouragement and support will be greatly missed. The class of '79 will always have fond memories of her. Mrs. Bessie Mcknight retires this year after 27 years of service to the Corinth School district. Many of us remember her as a wonderful 6th grade teacher but that was not her only position on the staff. In 1952 Mrs. Mcknight began on the staff as a 2nd grade teacher. She taught this for three years of which point she turned to art teaching for 3 years. After these first six years she began teaching the sixth grade. This time for 5 years at which point she taught 4th and 5th grades for 2 and 3 years respectively. Her most recent service has been the 6th grade for the past 11 years. She helped many to grow up enough to be able to accept and change to the life of a seventh grader and high school student. She created many k memorable events in the sixth grade year of almost 1000 stu- dents . Three of these favorite events were the spelling car race, making feudal type castles, and studying the stars and building our own constellations. Mrs. Mcknight will not be for- gotten for she aided in the education of many. She proved that students and education is as precious as life itself. Mfcy -r 't ' : ■. :M A. Weaver Corinth’s defense trips Kerries By MIKE KANE Sports Editor Corinth upped its Nor- thern Conference football record to 4-1 Saturday with a 17-0 win over homestanding St. Mary's. Coach Dick England's defensive unit has been sterling all season and Saturday was no exception as the Tomahawks kept the Kerries in check all af- ternoon. The deepest St. Mary’s penetration — with the aid of a pair of major penalties — was to the Corinth 13 in the third period. Corinth has the stingiest defense in the area, allowing only 7 points in five games. The Tommies’ lone setback was a 3-0 loss to unbeaten Cambridge. Corinth put together its first sustained drive in the second period. The time consuming 91-yard 20-play march was culminated on a one-yard touchdown dive by quarterback Dave Moses with four minutes left in the half. Andy Kelly’s extra point kick was wide A fake punt carried by Moses for a first down kept the drive alive. Neither team was able to mount an effective drive in the third period. The ball changed hands four times before the Kerries moved deep into Corinth territory on a pair of runs by Paul Girard and two major penalties. The Tommies stiffened and stopped Paul Girard on a first down sweep. Mike Shattuck batted away a pair of passes into the end zone to deny the Kerries a score. On fourth down, Chris Bottari’s 32- yard field goal attempt fell short. Corinth took over on its 14 and put together an 86-yard scoring drive that was highlighted by runs by Moses. Kelly capped the drive with a 14-yard scoring run with nine minutes left in the game. Moses passed to Eric Spieldenner for the two point conversion. Corinth stopped the Kerries on the next possesion and took over on downs on the St. Mary’s 26. It appeared that the Kerries had stopped Corinth and would get the ball back on downs. That idea vanished when Kelly booted a 42-yard field goal that just made it over the cross bar. Shattuck pulled in a pair of interceptions in the final minutes to shut off any Kerrie hopes for a late score. Tomahawks win Northern title Corinth, riding the strength of its lightweights, won its third straight Northern Conference wrestling title with a 34-18 home-mat win over Whitehall Wednesday night. In other wrestling action, Queensbury won its 12th match in as many starts, a 35-18 win over Mont Pleasant, while South pounded Gloversville 61-15, and Amsterdam rolled over Hudson Falls. 40-18. Marty Shermans 12-1 Tomahawks sprinted to a 23- 0 lead on decisions by Shawn Vetter, Jim Bolduc, John McGrath, and John Shippee, and a third-period pin by Mike Shattuck. Whitehall fought back with a Paul Diekel pin and decisions by Kevin Burns and Cliff LaRose, but an Ed Stanton decision and a Maroon forfiet made it too late for Whitehall’s Dan Gordon. Queensbury got pins from Todd Erceg and Scott Kingsley, but it was the performance of John Hubert, weighing only 160 but wrestling at 177, that drew praise from coach Jack LaBombard. At one point Queensbury won five straight matches, including Erceg’s pin and major decisions by Larry Irvine and Ward Neal Jeff Lefebvre. Tonv LoCascio Wayne Wrestling Roundup and Bill LaTulippe also won for the Spartans. The Bulldogs got pins from Tim French and Mike Steele, and decisions from Roger Merrithew. Keith Harvey, Mark Alden, Scott Fish and Brian Daniels. Gloversville hurt itself with five forfeits. South High is now 7-4, a perfect 3-0 in the Foothills Conference with bouts with Hudson Falls and Queensbury yet to come. For Hudson Falls, key wins by Bruce Bates. Phil Connery and Mark Moulton were offset by Jeff Plude's first loss of the season. The Tigers were behind by only four points at one point but then gave up four straight pins.
