Y. UI' wn There is something for everyone with- in the lndustrial Arts Department. Any student has the option of taking these courses. Photography is taught by Phil- ip Otis, Department Chairman, and is very popular. Drafting and printing, although somewhat technical in nature, are courses which could lead to a fu- ture job. Walter Domres and Philip Otis work individually with students to de- velop the skills they need to do qual- ity work. Rick Mecheda teaches metals and small engine repair. Both courses pro- vide unique opportunities for employ- ment andfor for the development of skills in repairing complicated ma- chines and equipment. Wood working is something that almost any person could develop an interest in and Bernie Antonio is the teacher to help you grow with your interest and skill. Not only are the courses interest- ing and enjoyable, but could be very profitable. Many people in the Corcor- an community have purchased the beautiful things that students in Mr. Antonio's classes have made. This year an increasing number of males are beginning to take Home Ec- onomics. Home Ec. has traditionally been thought of as an all female course, but when one steps into a Corcoran's Home Ec. class, that theory is quickly disproved. Young men in the classroom aren't the only change in our Home Ec. course. This year we had two new Home Ec. teachers, Julia Taylor and Connie Ulasewicz. Julia Taylor has been teach- ing Home Ec. for three years and ad- justed to Corcoran gradually. In reply to what she thinks about the change in enrollment patterns in the Home Ec. classes, she said I think it's a good idea, and with today's changing world, men need to be able to take care of themselves. Joining Julia Taylor in the Home Ec. department is Connie Ulasewicz who was here for a halfa year last year. Both of the teachers are doing a fine job. Mickey De Vesty Jean Glanister Truth or Consequences Corcoran's Media Center offers the best selection of books, periodicals, and audio visual materials and equipment in the Syracuse City Schools. Reading or just plain thinking can be comfortable while sitting in one of the numerous lounge chairs placed about the completed center. With its friendly and casual mood, the Media Center often becomes a place of conversation, joking and gossip rather than one of study and silence. But, under the strict and ever watchful eye of the Media Center staff, those who create too much chatter and general chaos are often banished to the dark and forbid- ding environs of the cafeteria. For those students who seek assistance in completing their assignments, the staff is always ready to help with informa- tion and suggestions. Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. DeVesty, the library aids, have had many years of experience in school libraries and are a wealth of information in the reference and fiction areas. We are proud of our Media Center, and have every right to be!

The energetic, hard working gentlemen and ladies who clean the hallways and classrooms, shovel the sidewalks of snow, and make the surroundings at T.J.C. more attractive, are our friends the custodians. These men and women are constantly on the go, you never see them relaxing. And yet, they al- ways find time to be courteous to fac- ulty and students. Thanks, guys and gals, for ajob well done. Trying to please the entire student body is a bigjob for anyone, but for the ladies in the cafeteria, it's an every- day goal. The salad bar is the newest addition to the menu, and it has proven to be a dieter's heaven. Being able to serve oneself at the salad bar has elim- inated a lot of waste. The big meals at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter re- veal how much care and concern are be- hind these ladies, smiles. Looking over the dialogue of the play, 'lLife of the Party, Paul McKenna and Donna Val- erino find a scene worth re-reading. 020
