HR lt's first period, and time for a B flat, a beat or fa-la-la. Every morning, the schoolls musicians and vocalists warm C building with tunes and melodies both classical and contemporary. The choir, directed by Sidney Novak, has performed at various places downtown. The group consists of three different choirs: girls, boys, and mixed. The versatile musicians in the concert band, directed by William Bishop, also com- prise various smaller groups such as the Stage band, the Brass Choir, the Dixie- land band, and several woodwind ori- entated quartets. The Brass Choir has been busy playing at several churches locally for such occasions as Easter, Christmas, and special services. The annual Christmas Concert, put on by the Music Department and sponsored by the P.T.S.O., was an enjoyable suc- cess. The stage was decorated with several Christmas trees fwhich were raf- fled offj, snowflakes, and an original Roosevelt Fire place. Even Santa man- aged to help out! Karen who? fKaren Hirshmanlj The music department also puts on a spring concert and a Quadrant concert, which combines the elementary bands and junior high bands from the southside, in addition to Corcoran's own musicians. The Girls' Athletic Association is one of the most active organizations in Corcoran. It consists of a group of girls that get involved in different kinds of activities. The G.A.A. sponsors the Super Stars which is a tournament among several mem- bers of different girls' teams. The G.A.A. provides the trophies and the uniforms for the girls involved. Community projects include Christmas car- oling and stuffing stockings for the Fair- mount Childrens' Home. The biggest project this year was cleaning up the girls' locker room. The walls, lloors, and lockers were attacked with soap and water. Later thc walls were painted and thc Corcoran Cougar was painted on one of the walls. For fun they have tobogganing parties, an over-night in the gym, and a three day camp- ing trip in the spring. The G.A.A. is a very exciting organization open to all girls at Corcoran. 0 0 O 0 The F zghtmg Nlghtmga les One of the most popular extra-curricular activities at T. J.C. is the Girls' Athletic Association Some of the girls in GAA show their en- thusiasm aftcr stufiing stockings for the Fairmount Childrens' Home.
