FOOD, FROLIC A D FUN AT the IFAIIIIQ Every year is highlighted by numerous local events. Syracuse also has its share of them. Every area with games, rides, and food. Almost anyone in the neigh- borhood, and a few who arenit, can be found at Meachem Field Days, either munching on a candy apple, or at the top of a ferris wheel. Everyone has a great time. Another big event is the State Fair. It is held every year around the end of August and marks the end of the sum- mer and the beginning of the school year. People from all around the state attend this annual happening to view the schedule shows and the mid-ways, and just to enjoy themselves. 'FIIQ The logo and design of the main gate at the New York State Fairgrounds reflect the yearly theme of the fair. People by the hund- reds of thousands pour through this gate each year from across the state and across the country. Filling' Empire Court with the Big band soundu, Stan Cole1la's Big Band was one of the many attractions during fair week. Join- ing the band were the Four Aces. The fair attracted all types of people and the varied rides, displays, exhibits, and Venders proveded entertainment for the whole family. Those shown below appreciate the talent at Empire Court.

LCE ' Salina Street was once the entertain- ment capital of Central New York with many movie houses and theaters dot- ting the downtown area. Today places like the Empire, Strand, Paramount, and Keith's are only memories, but the best of them all-Loew's State- still stands. The Loew's Theater, created by the outstanding architect Thomas Lamb, is still known as one of the most beau- tiful theaters of our time. We are proud that this edifice is part of our local heritage and are pleased that the build- ing has now been re-opened as a na- tional landmark. DGDIVIED . Since 1907, Archbold has been the setting for Syracuse University football, baseball, track and numerous gradua- tion and academic ceremonies. But age is catching up with the seventy year old stadium. The condition of the stadium has become so crucial that S.U. and the community must come to a decision before too long. There are a number of issues connected with the building a new stadium which must be resolved. A site must be cho- sen keeping in mind that traffic and parking could be a major factor to the neighborhood when the stadium is finally built. In view of Syracuse weath- er should the stadium be domed? A stadium commission has been studying all of the alternatives and their report may give some clue to the direction of this new venture.
