FRAZIER, PRESIDENT The Community Development Group companies of the Westing- house Electric Corporation, headquartered in Coral Springs, are companies whose primary business is the development and marketing of real estate, often on the scale which encompasses entire towns, villages or large segments of existing cities. The Community Development Group is part of corporate Westing- house's Public Systems Company and includes: 0 Coral Ridge Properties, Inc., cornerstone of the Group, founded in 1946 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and responsible for outstanding developments in Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs and Spring Lake tnear Sebringl. 0 Coral Ridge - Collier Properties, Inc., responsible for development and sales of the new luxury community of Pelican Bay on the Gulf of Mexico just north of Naples, Florida. 0 Half Moon Bay Properties, Inc., responsible for development and sales of more than 8,000 acres on or near the Pacific Ocean, just south of San Francisco, California. 0 Treasure Lakes, a company which has the responsibility for major recreational resort communities in North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania. Coral Springs, the cityin which Coral Springs High School is located, is a prime example of the high quality level of community development for which Coral Ridge Properties - oldest of the Westinghouse Community Development Group Companies - is known. Coral Ridge Properties is a native south Florida company. Founded shortly after World War II by the late James S. Hunt, the late J.P. Taravella, and Robert L Hofmann, and currently with Wemer Buntemeyer as Presi- dent, Coral Ridge Properties gained early national and intemational attention for its role in the development of the famous Coral Ridge and Galt Ocean Mile areas of Fort Lauderdale. The company is responsible for over 7,000 condominium apartments on the Galt Ocean Mile and together with the prestigious Coral Ridge area makes up one-third of the assessed valuation of the city of Fort Lauderdale. The Galt Ocean Mile was but little more than half way complete when Coral Ridge Propenies and its intrepid executives began to envision an even more ambitious project - an entire new city to bea sister city to Fort Lauderdale - in northwest Broward county. Coral Springs was the new dream . Members of Coral Springs High's graduating Class of '81 will find parallels in their lives with that of the city of Coral Springs and its development. It was in the middle 1960's - about the same years that many of the members of the Class of '81 were bom, that the first land parcels for what was to become the City of Coral Springs were assembled. It wasn't until 1966 - around the time many of this year's gradua- ting class were entering kindergarten - that the first water and sewer facilities were arranged for in Coral Springs - and building this new city got underway in reality. It was also the year that Coral Ridge Proper- ties became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In the dozen or so years that this year's graduates have spent between kindergarten and commencement exercises, Coral Springs has also experienced dramatic growth and development, becoming America's Most Successful New City . Today, this community is a highly respected municipality with full services and a certified master plan for the ultimate 25 square miles to comfortably accommodate upwards of 125,000 residents. Coral Springs High School - its pupils, their parents and its staff - have been an important and integral asset in that accomplishment. To the graduates of the Class of '81, and those to come, Coral Ridge Properties and the Westinghouse Community Development Group offer their recognition and heartiest congratulations!
