Jane Pauley, Bryant Gumbel and Willard Scott piloted the two-hour telecast- the first of a three-day salute to armed forces in Europe. . CORAL SEA and NBC joined to execute the live production dubbed Operation CORAL SEA TODAY. As with any mission on board an aircraft carrier there were those under the limelight, and then there were other key play- ers who remained behind the scenes.
