Captain O'Hearn is a native of Manitowoc, Wisconsin and graduated with the class of '67 at the U.S. Naval Academy. He completed flight training at HT-18, NAS Whiting Field, Milton Florida, in November of 1968 where he was designated a Naval Aviator. From Miton, Florida, he reported to Fort Rucker, Alabama, where he received Army Helicopter Tactics Training. In September 1969, Captain O'Hearn reported to Helicopter Attack Squadron ILightl THREE QHAL-35 where he was assigned to Det-9 on the Mekong River in South Viet Nam. In September 1970, he returned home and proceeded to Helicopter Anti- submarine Squadron ONE IHS-ll in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, for carrier replacement pilot training. Upon completion, Captain O'Hearn reported to EXECUTIVE OFFICER Helicopter Anti-submarine Squadron FIVE IHS-51. Following a three year tour at HS-5, he reported to Helicopter Anti MICHAEL S. 0'HEARN in Jacksonville, Florida where he was an Instructor Pilot. In August 1976, Captain O'Hearn entered Post Graduate study at Montery, California, where he received a Master of Science Degree in Weapon Systems Acquisition. After graduating, he returned to HS-1 in May 1978 for carrier replacement pilot training. From HS-1, Captain O'Hearn received orders to Helicopter Anti-submarine Squadron FIFTEEN QHS-155 for his department head tour as Maintenance Officer and Safety Officer. On completion of his tour with HS-15 in May 1980, Captain O'Hearn proceeded to Helicopter Anti-submarine Wing ONE QHSW-ll, where he was assigned to the TAC D and E HS-9 from June 1983 to January 1984 and from there he went to OPNAV where he was HSXHSL mission sponsor in OP-951 from February 1984 to September 1985. He assumed command of Helicopter Wing Reserve from January 1986 until July 1987, then reported to USS CORAL SEA in December 1987 as Executive Officer. Captain O'Hearn was advanced to his present rank in June 1988. Captain O'Hearn has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and 26 Air Medals Q21 strikefflight and 5 individual actionl. Captain O'Hearn is married to the former Marla Vlahopoulos branch and Special Projects. He from Athens, Greece, and they was then ordered to HS-9 as are presently residing in Virginia Executive Officer in March 1981. H 31' 4 COMMAND MASTER CHIEF Command Master Chief, Aerographer's Mate Master Chief Charles Edward Fifield is a native of Portland, Maine. He entered the service in October 1955 at Portland, Maine. After boot camp he attended Aerographer Class A School at NAS Lakehurst, New Jersey, graduating on 24 July 1956. Other schools attended include Aerographer Class B School, completed in November 1964, Career Information and Counseling Course, Leadership Management Education and Training for Leading Chief Petty Officers QLMETJ and Instructor Training School. Since joining the service Master Chief Fifield has served in Adak, Alaska, Guam, Marianas, twice at Lakehurst, New Jersey, London, England, Memphis, Tenn., Norfolk, Virginia, Port Lyautey, Morocco, Suitland, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Master Chief Fifield served in USS ALAMEDA COUNTY QAVB-15, USS SHANGRI-LA QCVA-381, USS LA SALLE QAGF-3J and with Attack Squadron FORTY-TWO KVA- 42l. Master Chief Fifield was assigned as Command Master Chief of USS CORAL SEA QCV-435 on 29 July 1987. Master Chief Fifield's decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation lthree awardsj, Good Conduct Medal leight awardsl, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon ltwo awardsj, AEROGRAPHER'S MATE MASTER CHIEF CHARLES E. FIFIELD Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist and numerous Letters of Commendation. Master Chief Fifield is married to the former Nancy Ann Nichols of Brooklyn, New York. They reside in Chesapeake, Virginia. They have two children and two grandchildren.
