Accidents are time consuming and costly in terms of manpower and material. Safety goes hand in hand 'with efficiency, and the implementation of a comprehensive safety program is the job of CDR Yakabek and his crew. A staff of senior petty officers with expertise in all aspects of carrier operation aid the ship's safety officer in evaluating potential problems and affecting workable solutions. They monitor almost every aspect of shipboard operation. Such evolutions as UNREPSIVERTREPS, deck seamanship, ordnance handling, engineering operations, and damage control are all carefully observed for safety violations. The dept. is also responsible for the dissemination of safety related informantion in addition to reviewing accident and injury reports. Promoting an atmosphere where safety is the primary concern of every CORAL Seaman is the aim of the Safety Department. 31,-4 f AHUBIIBH, BN S' ,XZ',:414ggi.',- -Q ,:.. ,Qff,-3,1-Cffg zs ii ii , ,,,. ,5 g, ,ggf my f V, -. f X2 Y , I ' 3 Aromin, JC Engleman, GL svvfssv A Safety Department 6 my '5 X... ,. f-,f' , A-an fs-1 . . J. Bednar Department Head QFD No organization can function without competent logistic support. Procuring the consumable supplies and necessary repair parts, in addition to providing services for the welfare and morale of the crew, are the tasks assigned to the Supply Department. It is no simple task considering the numbers that have to be dealt with. Serving over 4,000 men and supporting the equipment onboard a ship this size is a large undertaking that requires seven divisions to effectively carry out this essential function. t Q W 31, , .',!,' . .
