The R stands for repair and that pretty much sums up the duties of R-Division. They are respons ble for the structural integrity of the ship. They also monitor various alarms in amage Control Central, always on the alert for flooding in the spaces or high temperatures in the magazines. Their responsibility also includes the setting of the material conditions of readiness as well as maintaining a level and stable ship. During GQ DCC is the control point for repair lockers and the central collection point for information concerning damage to the ship. Maybe most important is the coordination of the flying squad and the inport fire party along with the back up damage control party. Five work centers make up R-Division. l Damage Control Shop - Responsible for upkeep of all damage control equipment including repair lockers, C02 equipment, PKP extinguishers, portable pumps and SSD's. R Division Carpenter Shop - Any structural repair dealing with wood is handled by the Carpenter shop. This shop is also the ship's Iocksmith headquarters. Shipfitter Shop - The fabrication and installation of vent ducting, metal cabinets, lockers, and equipment foundations is handled by the torch-welding crew ofthe shipfitter shop. lf it can be made from sheet metal they can make it. Pipe Shop - Need a plumber? Call the pipe shop. Unlike the common variety of plumber they also work with high, medium, and low pressure piping layout, repair and fabrication. Light Water Shop - You hope you never need them but if you should the ship's light water and AFFF stations will be ready for use due to the conscientious maintenance performed by the crew of the light water shop on their equipment.
