RUTH JOHNSTON The most gratifying performance that we of the journalism department can enact is the pre- sentation of an Oscar to the Star who has gixen the best performance in the drama of our school days. But not only heading our social science department but also sponsoring our largest club on the campus. Allied Youthr and being the inspiring beacon which unconsciously urges us to obtain a higher goal in life, our sincere love and devotion goes with our presentation of the Oscar to Mrs. Ruth Johnston. Through the dusty and boring pages of history, one actress alone remains unruffled and tranquil as she leads us ony making us keenly aware of the immortal men of the past. Mrs, Johnston guides us through a phenomenal number of important occurrences, from nerve-wracking foreign policy reports to that final victory which is conquered only when our two years of American History are behind us. Affectionately known as Allied Ruth. she has survived numerous annual Allied Ruth confer- ences at Buck Hill Falls. Pennsylvania. and always manages to come through with flying colors. In spite of some of the more hettic experiences whith she has had to endure while serving as the backbone of A.Y., Mrs, Johnston has incredible ability for continuing to feel her students are won- derful ancl to constantly assure them of her never ending faith in our generation, and hope untold for the future. So it is that with the deepest of pride and admiration, for we love her for being herself, that we dedicate CAVALEON 1953 to . . . MRS. RVTH JOHNSTON.
