dedication Mrs. Aileen Northwang The 1972 yearbook staff would like to dedicate the LAUREL to Mrs. Nothwang—a decidated teacher and librarian who is leaving Coquille High School this year after working here for 10 years. Mrs. Nothwang came to our school to teach English. Her influence will be remembered because she was instrumental in setting up the Selective English program that replaced Junior and Senior English. She taught Expos., Short Story, and Novel. Three years ago she changed position and became the school librarian, and she did a fine job organizing and keeping records. During the summers she went to school at the University of Oregon (where she was on the women's rifle team.) In 1971 she received her M. A. in Library Science. She and her husband Chuck have left for Lajunta, Colorado, where Mrs. Nothwang will be the head librarian at Otero College. We wish them the best. 10

in memoriam Jack Greenlund Mr. Greenlund's death this last summer was sudden and unexpected. He died while attending summer school at the University of Oregon. He will be missed at Coquille High School. Intelligence alone does not make a good teacher... he has to be respected and respect the students in return. This was a quality that Mr. Greenlund possessed. After graduating from O.S.U. in 1951, he came to Coquille and began working on The Sentinel. He became a bookkeeper for Howard Cooper Corporation where he worked for 15 years. He was married in 1956. The Greenlunds had three children. Mrs. Greenlund is presently working at Coquille High School. After substitute teaching for a few years he went back to college and picked the few credits he needed to teach. In 1968 he began teaching at C.H.S. instructing the Bookkeeping, Journalism, Math, and some shop classes. He was also an advisor of the student radio club. He was a dedicated man who was also fun loving and very much in love with life itself.
