Dedicated to Preston Willis With deep respect and gratitude Coquille High School humbly dedicates this 1970 Laurel to the memory of Preston Willis. Born in Maxville, Oregon, June 17, 1930, he lived in Coquille most of his life and graduated from Coquille High School in 1948. Preston was a charter member of Coquille Jaycees and later served as a State Jaycee Vice President. He was a past President of the Coquille Kiwanis and served for many years as advisor to the Key Club, a post in which he had a profound effect on the lives of many of our young men. Pres.”, as he was so affectionately called by all who knew him, was a strong advocate of our schools and served several years on the Board of Directors for School District 8. In 1966 he was named educational citizen of the year by the Coquille Education Association for his efforts on behalf of schools. Perhaps the following words of Louise Mae Hogan can best describe Preston as we remember him: Tomorrow is not promised us ... So let us take today ... And make the very most of it... The once we pass this way ... Just speak aloud the kindly thought. .. And do the kindly deed .. . And try to see and understand ... Some fellow creature’s need . . .Tomorrow is not promised us... Nor any other day ... So let us make the most of it ... The once we pass this way.
