Drake Rules Senior Class Treasurer Patti McClellan, President Sherry Drake, Advisor Erma Wisby, Secretary Kris Redmond, and Vice-President Janet Milne take time out to pose for a picture. The Class of ’70 started their last year by electing officers. President Sherry Drake took charge and directed the voting on the style of announcements and the color of the caps and gowns. During the course of the year Kris Redmond reigned over Homecoming. Her court consisted of Shelley Mahlberg, senior; Debbie Miller, junior; and Glenda Paulsen, sophomore. Lynn Coon, John Heenan, and George Allen represented Coquille High School on the All-State football team; Coon as offensive lineman; Heenan as offensive center; and Allen as defensive linebacker. Candy Petre, Dana Benham and George Allen were chosen this year as Outstanding Teenagers of America. The faculty nominate two boys and two girls and then the three that receive the most votes are named. Qualifications include leadership, scholarship, initiative, sports, personality, and school activities. The senior dance, picnic, baccalaureate, and graduation rounded out a great year for the class of ’70.
