achieve 6-5 non league slate devils began the season with a 54-46 victory as newport fell short in a fourth quarter rally . . . neah-kah-nie’s hot shooting and the demons' own ball-handling errors proved the red devils' downfall as they suffered a 66-48 defeat . . . coquille, making up 9 points in the last minute, fell just short as they went down to the 2nd defeat of a disastrous road trip to the tall gulls of seaside . . . the devils were again the victim of hot shooting, this time at the hands of the reedsport braves 69-44 . . . a-1 north bend outshot, outrebounded, and outclassed the smaller devils 59-38 . . . coquille bounced back into the win column with a 49-32 conquest of the newport cubs . . . north bend once again triumphed over the red devils as they won easily . . . gary johnson’s 27 points and don purvis' stellar board work paced the devils to a 69-59 victory over siuslaw . . . again siuslaw was the victim of a potent red devil attack, losing 63-36 . . . coquille ran up a 20-6 first quarter lead and easily defeated eagle point 69-36 . . . the red devils upset reedsport 50-36 as johnson's 27 points paced the spirited devils . . . purvis hooks against the tigers . . . 62
