Girls’ League Organization Song leader, Jeanette, was January Girl of the Month. Girls' League is an organization whose membership is composed of all the high school’s girls. It is supervised by Mrs. Harriet Osika and exists for the welfare and care of general interests, and establishs friendship and fraternity among all girls. The Girls' League Council of elected and appointed officers meets every third Thursday to outline projects, take care of all the necessary things and plan the regular general meeting held the last Thursday of the month. The highlights of the Girls' League Year includes the Big and Little Sister party, Twirp Week, officer election and installation and at the end of the year, Mothers' Tea, held for the girls' mothers. At the Big and Little Sister party the new girls got acquainted with their big sisters. The girls played games and received prizes for the most interesting costumes. Twirp Season was concluded with a dance held after a football game to which the girls had to ask the boys. During the year the League sponsored dances and candy sales. The new officers for the year 1959 were elected, then installed in an impressive ceremony January 29. The outgoing officers were given white carnations by the newly installed ones who received red ones. The annual Mothers' Tea was held in May with the home economics class, directed by Mrs. Helen Hollenstead, giving their style show. The Girl of the Year, selected by vote from the senior Girls of the Month, was introduced. 20
