Mr. McMurray Mr. Hunsaker Administration The American high school at its beginning was geared to train young people for college entrance. During the last fifty years it has continued to serve this group best. Most of those deploring the state of our secondary schools of today are talking about those who are planning to enter college. It is to the best interests of those not planning on attending college to plan a high school course of a practical nature, and it is the first problem of the American high school to fill the needs of those for whom a high school education is terminal. 1 find my work very interesting because I am working with young people. As principal ofCoquilleHigh School I am in a position to watch youth grow into adulthood. This is a great thrill, for I know of, and have taken part in many of their problems along the way. It is the principals job to see that every student has a chance to think and act as a good citizen, and to do this we encourage the development of their minds, bodies and moral standards. This can be very rewarding to students, parents and faculty over the years ahead. :C Principal

Mr. James Blanton Mrs. Clarice Crawford Mr. Jerry Mac-Murray Mr. Walter S. Pierson Chairman Board of Education The American Education System of free public schools plays a major role in our Democratic System of Government and will continue to make our country strong and great. The directors of the Coquille Board of Education are elected by the voters of district 8C and to them falls the responsibility of education in our community. We are fortunate in having adequate state school laws to guide and direct our efforts, making education and scholastic achievement uniform throughout the state of Oregon, leaving local autonomy uppermost in importance. The success of our students, the support of our community toward our schools, and the confidence we have in the graduating class of 1959 is ample reward for our time and the effort spent directing the affairs of the Coquille Public Schools. Mr. Tom Stevens Mr. Charles Ritchey Clerk The school board at work on Thursday night.

Our Thanks to the Faculty Our C. H.S. faculty strives to teach us the many things we should know. They teach us not only by textbooks, but by example; that there is a joy in serving others; a dignity in teaching; that we are rewarded for all we do and all we are. The members ofour faculty believe in boys and girls--the men and women of tomorrow. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for this service and for this faith in us.
