BASKETBALI A” SQUAD Leo Schwienfurt started his second year at Coquille High School with the return of seven lettermen: Keith Parry, Don Cochran, Max Clausen, Bill Martindale, Eddie Ilowe, and Leonard Scolari. Some of their outstanding wins were over Vancouver and Ashland. Next year Coach Schwienfurt will have a nucleus to work with as he loses only six seniors: Bill Martindale, Jim Kay, Max Clausen. Buzz Oerding, Jack Sisk, and Joe Berg. This was one of the most successful seasons had at Coquille High Schol for many years and next year with the return of Leonard Scolari, Kieth Parry, Larry Wilson, Eddie Howe, Gerard Jeub, and Larry Schwienfurt, we should have another outstanding basketball team. Standing: Coach Spike Leslie, Eddie Howe, Jack Sisk, Jim Newton, Bob Pingleton, Don Cochran, Leonard Scolari, Buzz Oerding. Seated: Keith Parry, Gene Shrag, Ted Parrish, Bill Melton, Don Molthu, Joe Berg. I RACK Despite the fact that there was a very small turnout for track, Coquille High School had a very successful season this year. After a slow start at the Roseburg dual meet where we took only one first, that being Leonard Scolari in the shot put. Then came the county track meet where a rejuvenated Coquille High School team came in second, with firsts in the shuttle hurdles, sprint relay, and the 880 yard relay. They lost to North Bend for first place by only one point. The remaining meets are the following: Hayward Relays, Roseburg Invitational Meet, County Meet, District, and State Meets. The boys out for track are as follows: Jack Sisk, Jim Newton, Don Cochran, Buzz Oerding, Joe Berg, Don Molthu, Bill Melton, Ted Parrish, and Gene Schrag, Seniors. Keith Parry and Bob Pingleton, Juniors. Ed Howe, Leonard Scolari, and Larry Schwein-furt, Sophomores. The manager is Richard Rankin.
