SENIIIII l'lASS HISTIIHY There it goes!!! That streak of red, out there along the beach!!! You don't know what it is? You mean to stand there on those two toothpicks and dare to say you don't know? My child, THAT is the Senior rocket of 1949, the Senior Class, the invincible-well maybe not quite invincible-but the mighty Senior Class. The Senior Class entered the laboratory of Co- quille in their first year as assistants to the head man. They planned to develop a new type of rocket that would take them to many adventures their last year. They needed a guide so .... they elected Bud Buckles, Pres, Jo Ann Mintonye V.P.g Joyce Taylor, Sec, and Wayne Timmons Representative. Bud Buckles made his letter in football the first year. When they were entertained by the Sophomores at a dance in the main lab, everyone had a swell time. As they entered their second year they felt like old hands at school. This year they elected Warren Jenkins, - Pres, Pat Shaw, V. Pres, Joyce Taylor, Secg and Bob McDonald Representative. xx .14 This year they gave a dance for the Freshmen and a clever assembly program con- sisting of a specialty dance, music, and humorous talks. Boys earning athletic awards were Bud Buckles, Jim Clark, Bob Geaney, Wilbert Reed, and Ken Cusic. Then came the Junior year, a year that was destined to be filled to the top and brim- ming over with activities. We must get our rocket done, as time is growing short, they were heard to say. To start the ball rolling they elected Bob Geaney, Pres, Joe Sayre, V.P.g Beverly Davis, Sec. and Jim Clark Rep. First on the list of activities was the Junior Prom, the theme of which was, Merry Yuletide. There was a big bustle and hurry before the decorating was over, but at last when the doors were opened everyone gasped at the beauty of it, and to top it all off, every- one had a swell time. Next came food, ah yes, food, and what does food remind you of? Of course, how could anyone forget the Junior-Senior Banquet! The food was superb and the entertainment the same. A Gypsy theme held sway over the crowd with bright colors and dashing and sparkling eyes of every girl. After the banquet there was a formal dance where every- one had fun. At last came the day when everyone could drop his books and pencils and go on a good old-fashioned picnic. Everyone journeyed to Lakeside and although it was a bit damp we rode horses, swam, and ate heartily of the huge lunch. In the afternoon some of them went out in boats, but were glad to get back to land and into our solid rocket. Boys making their letters were Clair Howell, Tom Mullin, Art Richardson, Jim Clark, Bill Owen, Keith Johnson, Dean Wolgamott, Bob Geaney, .and Ray Gilkey. Hurrah, we made it and without too much difficulty, and we had entered upon our last year of grind and fun. We started the year off with a big bang by electing Bill Owen, Pres, Joe Sayre, V. Pres, Joyce Taylor, Sec, Pat Popescu Treasg and Warren Jenkins Rep. We were ending the job of our mighty rocket and were at the end of our experiments. Under the able gui- dance of Mrs. Watson, were nearing our goal of the shining diploma. While progressing forward, we had a lot of fun and hard work. The Senior Play was a thrilling mystery-comedy, called Mystery In Blue. Every one worked hard and it was a big success. Then came the Senior Ball, with the theme Blue Hawaii, A lot of hard work was done on the decorating and everyone agreed that it was time well spent. The Senior Picnic is yet in the distance at this time, but if the seniors have their way, it will be a day never to be forgotten.
